I have been coming to El Charro for the past 5 years and have always raved about how it's the best Mexican restaurant in the capital region, however my experience tonight was quite different from my experiences in the past. I've always ordered the hot salsa on the side and it seems that they changed the recipe, however I've never been charged extra for the salsa but this time they added it to the bill? It was an extra $2, which I don't mind paying, however the inconsistency is very inconvenient. The service was typical and the meal itself was good, however what really upset my group was what happened after we got the bill. I was catching up with my friends for dinner today and we were chatting for another 30 minutes after our bill came. At around 8:30 pm about four of the staff members surrounded our table and were staring at us very annoyed with the fact that we were still there and motioning for us to get up. My group immediately got up and left, however the whole encounter was incredibly rude. Not once were we asked to leave, or politely told it was almost closing time. Mind you, this was at 8:30 and the restaurant closes at 9. There were other tables with groups of more than 5 throughout the entire restaurant, but we were shooed away. I don't think I've ever been treated that way at a restaurant before, but it was honestly incredibly rude. Had the servers asked us to get up we would've immediately understood and left, however they circled our table and just grimaced without saying a word. I expected better from this establishment after years of being a loyal costumer, the whole thing was ridiculous.
I just ordered the same “family meal” 2 nights ago and it was $32.35 with taxes for the mixed fajitas. Today we ordered and the women told me it was $39.95 and rang it in as Open food. I questioned her about this and she said well you used a coupon the other night. No I did not I didn’t even know they had coupons. This business uses “Open Food” to ring in and make up whatever prices they feel like. Really unprofessional. I called back when she gave me the total $64.21 and got a gentleman who said my totally was $51.20 when I got in there she made up a story on a coupon. So basically 1 employee charges 1 price and the women employee charges another. We will not be ordering from here again. Stop scamming people.

A 2 & 1/2 hour nightmare!!! Horrible service. Bad margaritas and subpar food. Forgot to put in our order..brought someone else's to go meal to us before our food arrived...server told us he would tell mgnt how bad it was but charged full amount. Will never go back!!!
Best Mexican food I ever had omg ?. I had the “Vallarta” ( Grilled marinated shrimp, Chicken and scallops cooked in a special sauce with onions, tomatoes, pineapple, mushrooms and red, yellow and green peppers. Served with Mexican white rice, fresh pick de gallo salad and sour cream.We also had the nacho chips with the chorizo dip ? you will thank me later!
Had the best quesidilla ever. My boyfriend had a huge burrito and said the sauce was fantastic. I had a marguerita made from scratch..Not a mix. Yummy. The couple we dined with said their meals were great too. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced.
DO NOT GET TAKE OUT. Really bad. Ordered three times too many. Each time it’s basically mush. Some foods are good as leftovers. This isn’t even good “fresh”. Consider eating in only. If you order take out, have a plan B for when you are disappointed (even cereal).Knew what I was getting into this last time and it was worse than I imagined. Maybe my first review I’ve ever left. Worth my time for the sake of others who may make the same mistake. Take a night off from eating before you consider this.
Bruh... After waiting 30 minutes (60 minutes after time of order) inside the restaurant, watching people come and go with their orders- I was told that the street corn was what was holding up the order... Got the food home, and the corn was obviously microwaved, disgusting, desiccated and inedible. Rest of the food was dried out under heat lamps maybe? Idk, super disappointed. Yuck.
Great service and excellent good. Always served hot and fresh. Staff are friendly and attentive. Great lunch menu specials A must try!
