Interesting spot, but not for the spontaneous-minded. You must call ahead to dine in, and you should also call ahead to take out.Not knowing this, I dropped in to request something to go. They said it would take 15 minutes, but ended up being closer to 25. The noodle bowl, surprise surprise, turned out to be a "finish at home kit", which was not made clear up front. The gyoza and seaweed salad were excellent! And yes, when I finally got home and prepared the noodle bowl, it was delicious, too.I do plan to return, but will make arrangements in advance.
We used to drive to New Paltz for this chef's delicious onigiri and dumplings, and we were thrilled to hear that they were opening nearby in Kingston. The wait was completely worth it.The handmade dumplings are still quite remarkable, but where this shop really shines is in its ramen! The bar sized is the perfect size for our hungry 10-year-old, and the full size will leave your stomach groaning with liquid deliciousness and total satisfaction. The sake selection is also something of note, and the cozy bar would be a great place to sit with a friend.Make your reservation and enjoy!
What a fantastic dining experience! From the corner of Broadway this restaurant doesn’t stand out. Find yourself inside and you’ll experience Yoko and her marvelous ramen broth! Sit at the counter and watch these delicacies be prepared. Yoko even gave us instructions on how to properly enjoy her ramen! My chilled Sake was a perfect pairing and the gyoza (dumplings) were scrumptious. Kin enjoyed conversing in Japanese but us English-only speakers felt apart of the chatter! Please go and support this hard-working family.
Incredible! Very authentic Japanese noodle soups and beautiful setting for dinning. If you haven’t tried them yet you’re missing out!
Beautiful authentic ramen prepared with intention and care. Highly recommend this place. Chef and proprietors are so kind and generous with their time. You will get a lesson on how to eat ramen! So charming. Highly recommend!! I will definitely be going back regularly
Impressed! Authentic flavors. Broth was delicious - very clean and light. Highly recommend the tofu small plate. Very intimate experience. Reservations required.
Tanma Ramen is the real deal. When I was in Japan a few years ago I ate a lot of ramen. It was always a fast, filling and delicious meal. If you want a taste of what that was like, minus the 14 hour plane ride, check out Tanma. I had a full size miso ramen and some yaki gyoza. The broth was delicate and refined, the noodles were the perfect consistency, the pork and the toppings added perfectly to the overall bowl and the yaki gyoza were served on the cast iron they were cooked in, keeping them nice and warm and crispy. They have a great selection of Japanese beer and sake, and are adding new stuff all the time. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff are warm and friendly. The owners, Youko and Kazuma are wonderful people who really want you to have the true Japanese ramen bar experience and they do just that. Check them out, you will not be disappointed.
Very personal experience. Despite having just opened in October 2021, this place set a golden standard for Ramen and for Japanese cuisine and culture in the Hudson Valley. When I arrived, I was greeted by friendly wait staff and a very positive atmosphere. After being seated at the Ramen bar, we were offered drinks. The teas and authentic selection of other beverages was awesome. We ordered the Yaki Gyoza, shown in one of the images. They were steamed and crispy on the bottom and very flavorful. We also ordered tofu, which was soft and delicate and extremely flavorful. The miso Ramen was the star of the show. It was presented beautifully. But actually, the real star was the head chef herself. She was very passionate about her food and loved explaining how to properly eat Ramen and the tradition behind it. She loves talking about her recipes and experiences. She made you feel like you were the only people there. Unfortunately, due to covid, the seating is limited and it is reservation only but they do very impressive and fun Ramen take out. They give you all the components and explain how to cook and assemble it yourself at home. This restaurant deserves more publicity and when covid restrictions lessen, I can see this place as an awesome hang out spot where you can stand in a portal to Japan in the middle of downtown Kingston.
If your looking for authentic Ramen this is the place for you. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. Nice variety of beers and sake. Of course the Ramen was delicious. Will be back again soon.
The artistic interior of this new establishment really catches you as you enter. The gentleman behind the bar was helpful and polite. We were lucky to be the last customers and so had the chance to speak with Kazuma and Yoko, Yoko even taught us the right way to eat Ramen. They were both a pleasure.Every plate of the meal was incredible and speaking to Kazuma ingredients were a mix of organic, local farms and importing from Japan.10 out of 10, I will be back as much as possible!
