The most delicious pork chop in the Hudson Valley! The fries are amazing. I've never had a bad meal at Chops. The staff is fantastic, the owner Denni is a gem. Highly recommended.
Service, food and ambiance were all outstanding. Can't miss for a relaxed and friendly night out.
My husband and I went for dinner. We had a very nice time. Atmosphere was excellent. Nice dinner music playing in the background. You know they say presentation is everything. Well I ordered the Shrimp scampi It came with yellow rice and string beans. The way the food was presented on my plate was sooo appetizing. Beautiful! The flavor was amazing. I ordered a Cosmo. Perfect. My advice if you live or are visiting Kingston NY .... Do yourself a favor and stop in at Chops Grill on John Street. Oh and Dennie and his staff was very attentive which means alot to me. My husband had the grilled salmon which he loved.
This is a nice restaurant in "Uptown" Kingston. Parking is only available on the local streets and there are meters to fee until 6pm. The food was really very good. My wife had Chicken Milanese which was great, and I had a burger with mushrooms and onions. It was superb! The blend of meats in the burger made it one of the best tasting burgers I have had in a long time. We are going back again later this week!
We called ahead to make sure we could dine at 8:00 pm. When we got there, the server told us a few things they were out of like escargot— no problem. We all ordered burgers, no cheddar left. Ok , we adjusted. After we each soecifued toppings, how cooked etc, waitress left. 5 mins later she returns, they have only one burger left. Now we all had to reorder based on what the restaurant had left with lots of excuses about why they were out of so much food. Bottom line, we ate something , it was fine but I feel like after such a rigamarole, at least buy us a drink or a dessert; something. I would not go back.
Our last trip to Chops was maybe 4 years ago. Very very pleased with our experience this time. Great, varied menu (plenty of good choices), pleasant interior (although they seated a big guy so close to me our chairs touched), and large portions (we both brought home a box). Waitress was particularly helpful explaining menu items and gave good recommendations. We will definitely return, probably next month with friends.
Delicious hummus with olives and fresh warm grilled pita is placed on your table at arrival as a delightful welcome in start to a delicious meal. We live in Queens, NYC (the food capital of the world as far as I am concerned ?) and every trip to Kingston we make a point to stop at Chops Grille. Everything is lovingly and thoughtfully prepared, fresh and delicious and everyone who works here is warm, helpful and super friendly. The meat dishes are hearty and cooked to perfection and the fishes are always delicious with really interesting and yummy sauces and flavors. We are always grateful for the warm welcome, delicious food and super friendly vibe. Also I have a bunch of food allergies and everyone has always been helpful, kind, and accomodating so that I can eat knowing I won't be putting myself at risk, which is a tremendous comfort. ???
Staff and owner are top notch. Order the Filet Mignon, you will melt into the floor, I could not believe the taste and texture. They will accommodate vegetarians too ‼
Drinks were good however the quality of vodka was poor, probably absolute. With better quality vodka or even a simple kettle one would of helped. I ordered the fish and chips. I like to eat fries with white vinegar but they didn't have any. The fries were undercooked enough to stop me from liking them. The fish was fried in oil that wasn't hot enough. When this happens it leaves a wet inside, the fish was frozen so this added to the wetness inside. My husband's steak was slightly overcooked, mashed potatoes were tasty and veggies were mikex with peppers and sting beans, the flavor profile was a bit off. I know that tried, the service was nice and attentive. I most likely will not dine here again. For two people who had two drinks two apps and two meals the bill was about 200.00. Plus 25% tip.
It was an ok experience. We ordered crab cake appetizers which were delicious, however my wife's appetizer plate was dirty when it came out. Also we ordered the steak medium well and it was done medium rare; after we returned it and they redid it, it came back to us still bloody in the center. A customer next to us also had a similar issue. I appreciate a restaurant offering proper thick cuts but if your cooks can't get the temperature right....that's a big problem. The waitress was exceptional for most of the service and repeatedly apologized for what was the kitchen's fault. With that being said, she gave us the bill without asking us whether we wanted dessert (which we did, but decided not to ask and paid and left). I'm not sure if I'd visit this place again, it was our first time there and it seems it may have been an off-evening for them.
