DO NOT GET YOUR COFFEE HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT HOW IT TASTES. THIS IS A BAR, NOT A CAFÉ.I don't know how this place calls itself a café. I got a cappuccino from here yesterday, and it was the first coffee that I had to throw away in a very long time. It was simply terrible. They do not have a proper espresso machine. My milk was frothed not with a steam wand but with one of those cheap standalone electric frothers that you get for your home. I couldn't really see the machine because it was at the very back (understandably, they don't want you to know that they don't own a commercial espresso machine), but I could tell that it was small and cheap, which should've been a huge red flag because real cafés make their coffee right in front of you with their big, beautiful machine with multiple group heads. The fact that they couldn't use the steam wand says a lot about this "machine". It also took a really long time because of this.Another thing that annoyed me is that the person who made my coffee was vaping while she was making it. I don't care what she does in her own time, but this is not ever something you see in cafés either. As a coffee lover, this experience was incredibly painful and definitely was one of the worst in my life. I understand that the bar wants to have a non-alcoholic side hustle, but please don't call yourself a café if this is the level of effort and investment you're willing to put into it.It made a lot of sense when I realized everyone else in the lounge was drinking alcohol, not coffee, I can see why now. My cappuccino cost 5.40, same as the price in other, much better cafés. If someone would like to offer me a refund, please do. My payment occurred on Jun 18, 2:07pm.
This place is amazing!! The service is excellent, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is to die for! They have fun table games to play and this small addition creates a beautiful environment to enjoy a wonderful evening. We had excellent service from Caleb and Sydney at the bar and we’re really looking forward to spending the rest of the summer in their superb company! Thanks, Greenhouse, for the perfect kick off to Summer 2022!
Georgie was the best ! She had all the of the best cocktail recommendations. Chef’s kisses !
I stopped by here thinking this place looked really nice. Came in, and loved the interior. The workers weren't friendly at all, and I wouldn't really care if everything else hasn't gone wrong as well. We came up and were told they didn't have multiple menu items even though it was 11 am. Either way, we ordered some food, and tried to order the matcha latte and were told they don't have that as a menu item and "if it's on there" they didn't have matcha. They didn't have any regular coffee flavors. When I ordered a latte, they said it doesn't come with espresso. Mind you, the latte already costs $5.5-6 for about 12oz and to add espresso is another $1. Don't call it a latte if it doesn't have espresso. The food and drinks were overpriced. We ordered 2 3pc sliders and 3 coffees for $50. The server looked offended that we didn't give tip for already bad service. I tried to sit down at the bar while I wait (which was really nice) and she told me I couldn't because I wasn't 21 (I'm 18). We ended up waiting about 10 minutes for the coffee and at least 10 more for the food. While we were waiting, 2 guys came in and 1 of them was holding an almost empty coffee cup and they were told they can't come in with coffee from a different place even though they were going to order anyway. The boxes our food was in was really greesy all over the box. The chicken in the chicken sliders didn't taste good at all. It tasted boiled and bland. The coffee wasn't good either. Complete waste of money and time.
My sister and I just left the cafe, When we walked in and looked at the menu the lady right away named 4-5 items on the menu that they didn’t have, which was fine, but then when we started ordering I wanted a matcha latte which was on the menu (it wasn’t one of those things she mentioned they didn’t have) but she said they don’t make matcha at all and if I want matcha I can go to a place across the street, I decided to just order something else. She seemed irritated and wasn’t welcoming at all, my sister wanted to order a latte and apparently all the coffee on the menu comes with no coffee, you have to pay extra for espresso to be added which was new but still, whatever, we got 2 coffees and a lemonade for my husband that was waiting for us in the car, and chicken and beef sliders. We paid and asked them to pack it for us to go, after which we leaned on a bar table waiting for our order and the lady turns to us and tells us we have to show her ids to sit at the bar table?? The bar table is right next to the cash register so it was the most convenient place for us to wait for our to go order. I told her we’re waiting for our to go order we’re not ordering any drinks, she said that we need to be 21 to wait at the bar table. Mind you there were only 2 people working so no one would serve us any drinks without asking our ids, and there were only 2 other people sitting at the bar on the other end so there would be no way for us to be able to order alcohol without showing our ids. It was very unnecessary and felt like she’s just trying to inconvenience us because she wasn’t hiding that she was irritated. My sister had to sit at a different table and I had to show my id to wait for my order. After that they told us it’ll be a 20 minute wait. At this point I’d order a drink while waiting but I was so shook with the rudeness that I didn’t even want to order anything else. While waiting we saw 2 guys walking in and heading to the cash register with half empty cups of coffee in their hands from another place, when they walked in they said hi and smiled, the lady without even saying hi first, before they even made it to the cash register points at their coffee and and tells them they can’t be in here with those. They turned around and walked out. 3 minutes later after finishing their coffee they walked back in to order something, another worker took their order and apologized for the lady’s behavior. When we finally got our order my husband and I enjoyed our sliders and drinks, my sister wasn’t impressed. Customer service was very disappointing, I love to go to nice places and don’t mind paying high prices, but I expect to be treated like a valued customer, not like they’re doing me a favor. For $6.5 per cup of coffee you’d think customer service will be great but no, very rude and makes you want to leave as soon as possible.
Just stumbled in here while walking around town on a trip to Ithaca with my boyfriend. I had the lavender sage latte and a bowl of chili. Both were absolutely delicious. Seriously - the latte was probably my favorite coffee drink I've ever had.The space is adorable, and while there was only one man working - he was doing his absolute best to keep everyone in the cafe happy. Overall a great experience.
My girlfriend and I were excited to try The Greenhouse Café. It was our first stop in Ithaca because we were looking forward to the Friday happy hour (3-5pm with $1 off cocktails and a couple deals on small plates). The bar was a beautiful piece of wood and comfortable. More importantly, the cocktails were delicious. We tried five different cocktails from the list and all were really enjoyable. Why a three star review after such an enjoyable time?We gave a credit card to pay for our drinks and said we didn't need a receipt. However, we did not receive anything to sign or even know how much it was. We went out to an ATM to grab some cash because we didn't get anything to sign and didn't want to leave without a tip. So we left some cash on the bar that the staff saw sitting there. We checked our credit card later in the evening and saw that they added a 20% gratuity to our bill and never made that clear. I've never been to a bar or restaurant that adds 20% gratuity for two people. It is probably because bars and restaurants don't ever do that. We would have been more than happy to leave that tip. The staff also had plenty of chances to tell us that we already tipped or that they added it to our bill.So in short, we paid almost $100 for six happy hour cocktails and one small $6 mushroom pâté.The staff walked away with a huge tip. The experience left me feeling like I was taken advantage of. I feel bad because I'm sure the owner made this place wanting it to be an accessible spot.Peter
the waiter with the mullet haircut came to the table angry and threw what I ordered. the supervisor came to apologize but in reality the waiter has anger problems. I just asked for what I ordered and he yelled at me to go and sit. He needs customer skills.
Incredible place with veg based, delicious meals that are spiced perfectly. Employees were super welcoming -- will definitely come back!
Just tried this Cafe for the first time tonight. Pluses and Minuses for different parts. Sliders were great, Cocktails were great. Service was great at the start, then faded away a bit.I felt that we were not being listened to , I had to remind them that my partner actually ordered a dinner. I understand how each business has ebbs and flows all the time, each moment , each day, each night etc.however being able to make each person feel special and attended to makes the business.A few suggestions. I had Caesar Salad- Served in a deep bowl, very hard to eat that way, so please serve soup in a deep bowl, salad in a wide bowl or plate. Associates/Servers were great and friendly, but there was a bit of lack of focus. More attention was being paid by them to each other or to people that were either friends or perhaps regulars( thought they had no food or drinks in front of them) than to us, and this was our first trip, so coming back depended on this experience. The Salad was OK not great, the sliders were really good, warm rolls next time please. The drinks were unique and really well done. My last suggestions- put a menu on the table or counter. QR codes are OK ( very 1990s, but a menu, of a unique design ( laminate it to keep it clean) is more person friendly than relying on connectivity. Think Album Covers and this will really help connect with peoples leave the internet out of it. Thank you for trying I will try you again in the coming weeks and see how things are.
