Afghan Kitchen 44 is the number one destination for Afghan cuisine in the NYC metro area. What a fantastic find! This Huntington Village gem takes authenticity to the next level with their skewers, stews, sides, and most of all the warmth and hospitality you feel while you are dining here. The decor is equally impressive. Do NOT overlook the appetizers; the scallion-filled bread and mantu are exceptional and I am dreaming of my next trip to have the aushak (for which there is also a vegetarian option). We shared chicken qorma, lamb tikka, and a delicious eggplant stew. The qorma is a warm, savoury, and earthy combination of spices, the lamb perfectly seasoned and grilled, and eggplant was tender and also beautifully seasoned. For a small fee we had our entrees served with the house pulao; perfectly cooked rice with carrots, raisins, and onions. Finally, for dessert was homemade saffron ice cream, laced with rose water and cardamom and topped with crumbled pistachio. A pot of cardamom tea washes everything down. Do NOT miss out on dining in this delectable establishment with such gracious hospitality; make a reservation for this weekend right now! ? ?? ❤
What a special, intimate and delightful spot! The proprietors of this special restaurant are kind, generous and make guests feel comfortable and welcomed. The food is extremely fresh and skillfully seasoned and prepared. Best Afghani food around. We felt like we went to our friends for dinner that was prepared especially for us, with attention to detail and great care. We intend to become regulars !
If you want delicious and authentic food, this is it!! Cozy and very nice ambience which brings some culture to Huntington. The food is beyond delicious. Couldn’t get enough of the white sauce. The chicken tandoori is an amazing dish, the chicken is so tender. Go and check it out!!
We ordered a takeout from this little Gem. From the point of contact, I was impressed as we had never had Afgan food before. The lady who took our orders was extremely helpful. The food was really great, so many different flavors and spices. Some dishes are not too unfamiliar to Indian but have their own authenticity. We will order again without hesitation. Would recommend.
Absolutely delicious! I was a little hesitant to order due to a few previous reviews, but was incredibly pleasantly surprised! We ordered take out, a combination of dishes, and everything was perfectly seasoned and executed. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Stopped in last Friday to check out the new spot. Small room but cozy and warm with beautiful decor.. Staff and owners very gracious. Ended up ordering some delicious take out. Menu very full of delicious options, Beef, chicken, Lamb, Fish, Vegan, etc. Serious authentic Afghan cuisine. Big BONUS is it offers BYOB!Good dinner spot with you favorite bottle! Do yourself a favor and give it a try..
Had the pleasure of attending a birthday dinner at the Afghan kitchen 44 in Huntington.Everything was absolutely delicious, from the grilled kebabs to the stews. I’ve been to many Afghani/Persian restaurants but by far this one actually felt as if I was sitting in a friends home. I will definitely be back.
I visited this restaurant yesterday with a group of friends. This is a completely family run restaurant and you feel like family when dining here! We had 3 different appetizers and a variety of kebabs seasoned so well, salmon and rice for the main meal. Everything came out fresh, piping hot and it was all very delicious! The homemade sauces complimented the food perfectly. We enjoyed the food and the ambience so much nobody wanted to leave! It’s one of those restaurants where you feel at home.
The food here is outstandingly flavorful! The beef kebab was the juiciest and most tender meat I’ve ever had. We ordered a spicy version of the beef kebab as well. Each bite was just spicy enough without it overpowering the palate. The rice (garnished with carrots and raisins) was a generous portion and it was a delicious companion to the kebab. The salmon kebab was tender as well. We had the saffron homemade ice cream and the milk pudding - both delightful! The most delicious parts of the meal were the homemade white and green sauces. The green sauce in particular added a burst of flavor to the beef that made it taste that much better. My leftovers the next day were even better (which NEVER happens)!! Definitely give this cozy restaurant a try and support local, diverse, family-owned eateries like Afghan Kitchen 44!
So glad to celebrate the official grand opening of Afghan Kitchen 44! Awesome food, lovely atmosphere, and such a friendly family owns it.
