I have been waiting for this Mamajuana to open and I was not disappointed at all! Making the reservation was quick and simple, which you might want to do so you don’t have to wait as long. They have indoor and outdoor seating just an fyi. I ordered the Piña Chula and the guacamole with tostones which was delicious. For my main course, I ordered the Mama-fongo with camarones and my boyfriend got the churrasco and both were scrumptious. The owner came by to greet the table and ask how things were which was very nice. I will definitely be back very soon!
My server, Saul was amazing and made the best recommendations! We will def be going back- there’s was too much on the menu that I wanted to try.
although the food was good…. The bad service with our waitress ruined it all!! It was my daughters 30 th Birthday . The place wasn’t even crowded and she was not attentive at all. We had a party of 11. She never came to us to ask if we needed anything . She was going to bring the beautiful Birthday cake over with the table not even being cleaned up with dirty plates. I told her no way it’s not cleaned . she gave us a small steak knife to cut the cake which broke into pieces,also gave us all soup spoons to eat the birthday cake . walked away again never came to ask us if we wanted coffee or expresso . we had to once again get up and find her to get forks and ask for coffee! she was an absent and terrible server ! Her attitude was also terrible ! I will never go back
Let me first say that it is an honor to write this review for the extraordinary staff at Mamajuana Cafe Huntington!! I hosted an engagement dinner for my dear friend who recently became engaged. We were originally booked at another restaurant in Huntington for this occasion, but 2 nights prior to the reservation, I ate at Mamajuana Cafe for a regular night out with a friend. I was so impressed with my overall experience this first night, that I decided to cancel the original reservation and book the engagement celebration at Mamajuana Cafe instead! Boy oh boy, was this the best move!! First of all the food is absolutely delicious and the margaritas are perfectly made and compliment every bite of flavor!! The Paella is perfection and they don't skimp on the seafood or the chorizo. The rice was fluffy and every bite is a party in your mouth. The Pulpo is to die for and the empanadas were amazing. I'm not sure what sauce they drizzle on the plate with the empanadas, but it was so good, we asked for a side serving to enjoy with the rest of our empanadas. The sauce is addicting so we continued to enjoy it on everything and anything that we dipped into it! Yes, the food is reason enough to experience this restaurant, but even more extraordinary is the hard working, kind, professional staff, who do backflips to make sure you are happy. It is obvious that they are so grateful for every patron who walks in the door and they treat you like family. Here are some examples of how this special staff went above and beyond to make sure our engagement celebration was PERFECT in every way... First, I dropped off balloons and table decorations and they were more than happy to set the table with all the decorations prior to our arrival. They also allowed me to bring the engagement cake from an outside bakery at no charge. They used my special sparkler candles on the cake and when they brought the cake out they had a special light up sign that said, SHE SAID YES!! An amazing touch that was so FANTASTIC and really made the celebration even more spectacular! They also chanted "she said yes" while ringing bells and shaking other adorable instruments. Here is where it gets good... the restaurant closes at 10, but we were in party mode and they NEVER once rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable about leaving until we were ready. They graciously stayed open way past closing time and not only were we not rushed, but they were genuinely happy we were having so much fun! There is no attitude here from anyone and the incredible energy and service with a smile proved consistent WAY past closing hours!!! This was was one of the most refreshing and admirable customer service experiences I ever had in any restaurant- bar none!! The party was a HUGE success and I my friend said it was " THE BEST NIGHT EVER"!! This is the place to celebrate any occasion, no matter how big or small, or just go out for a great week night meal, for no reason at all, other than to experience the amazing food, super fab drinks, exceptional service, super fun ambiance and the genuine staff that will treat you like royalty from the minute you walk in the door! Please do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. You will be so glad you did!! To everyone at Mamajuana Cafe, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my friend's engagement celebration absolute PERFECTION!!! I would give you 100 stars if this review allowed!!. I was initially excited to go because of the Queens location. I went for a date for my birthday but this location seems more like a ‘family friendly’ environment. The table set up is not very intimate.The bar area seems pretty small so it’s probably not a place that I would go for happy hour, if that’s what you’re looking for. The drinks were good though. I had the jack punch and it had a good amount of alcohol.The Volcano sushi was good. I tired the mofonguitos which were alright. The chicken did not taste like it had much flavor but the beef and shrimp were okay, although I’ve had better. I ordered the churrasco which seemed good at first but as I was eating the meat it seemed very fatty so that kind of grossed me out. My date got the red snapper which he didn’t really enjoy and felt that it was over cooked. I’m big on dessert and I was excited to try the cuatro leches however they did not have it and only had two options which neither seemed very appealing.I personally probably will not return as I feel that there are other restaurants that have a better ambiance as well as better food.**FYI I’ve had skirt steak before. I know what it is and that is my “go to” order when I go to certain restaurants. The skirt steak I’ve had here was visibly fatty for my liking.
I visit this place last Saturday with my friend we have diner there. The food was okay the presentation was kind entertaining looks. The place itself is nice relaxing with latin acienda architecture style in building. This place is really ideal for to romantic rendezvous, date, family and friends Hangout for a brunch things in that nature. As a person who is enthusiastic person about fine cuisine; I believe the chef there is skill is acceptable but have nothing to empress customer s in term of taste, or empresive culinary skills. The only negative complaints I got about this place is the rip off at bill they take automatically 15% of grauity charge for a poor service and they even go bolder to suggest you in the receipt to give between another to 10 to 25 % of direct tip to the person who serve you. If you don't pay attention you may hand up paying up 25% to 50% of your initial expense in addition to the expense itself as poor service fees. I think it's a rip off a disloyal and subversive move to steal from the customers who bring business and money to place.
Big thumbs up for Mamajuana Cafe Huntington LI ...visited this past Saturday night for dinner for my birthday. The food was excellent, a fusion of Latin cuisine. I'm half Cuban and the flavors made me miss my family down in Miami. Pictured are the coconut margarita, mofongo trio, ceviche, Mexican sushi, pernil, linguine with chicken and Latin flavors, sancocho, calamari, and guacamole. Wasn't inexpensive, but the quality of the food and service were great. I'd definitely go back in a heartbeat. Oh, and the music was great. My 11 year old couldn't stop dancing in his seat!
Food was phenomenal service was great drinks were amazing my new go to Dominican food. I would highly recommend this place if anyone wants authentic Spanish food with a Spanish vibe
Great atmosphere. The ambience was immaculate. Oh and the food...really well done Caribbean fusion. Loved it!
