Great local bar with a scene and food and drinks. Prices were similar to NYC (or maybe we had a few drinks, lol!)
I'll characterize this establishment as a bar with good food. They appear to be remodeling the appearance, and have enough TV screens with ball and puck games tuned in to qualify as a "sports bar," in my book. It appeared that we three were the only patrons there primarily for food, but the staff was polite and attentive, and we never felt ignored during our time there. Most restaurants in the area are closed to new customers by 9PM, which has been a problem for us over the years. We come to this area to attend the Greater Long Island Dental Meeting annually, and some of the coursework extends into the evening, limiting dinner options quite a bit. So finding the Dark Horse Tavern was serendipitous.
Great food. Fish and Chips were delicious. Blue cheese burger was great! Staff was very accommodating. Put us in an area that was more quiet than the regular bar. Very nice place.
Love the decor! Beautiful bar. They have a garage door that opens in the summertime. It brings the outside in. The bartenders are really good. Have a couple TVs, I love the seating at the bar. This is a great place.
Used to frequent this spot pretty often on the weekends with my friends. Probably won’t be anymore after what happened last time. I was waiting by the bar to order a drink when a security guard grabs me by my jacket and starts pulling me towards the exit. Surprised and confused, I asked what was going on? To which he replies that he had witnessed me dropping something in someone else’s drink. In my defense I try to explain that he was wrong and had mistaken me for someone else. Of course they didn’t listen or believe me. I even asked for them to check the security cameras. Again, they ignored me. When I tried to go back inside to retrieve my card behind the bar, security shoved me out.For your information, people go to PRISON for stuff like that. Hope the owner speaks to his security team and reviews their course of action. Would not want this to happen to anyone else. PLEASE BEWARE!
The food was good but he didn’t give me napkins :( still good place n the barback Soto has a beautiful blonde hair ?

The server was great! Perfect example of a tavern! Amazing variety of beers on tap. They had a great bloody Mary and the Jamison neat was a proper pour. If you visit this great town, make this a stop.
We planned a private 50th birthday celebration with Jay. The entire staff was incredible throughout the whole night. They all seemed genuinely happy to be a part of the celebration. The food, the service, the space all perfect. Thank you Dark Horse team.
They are not careful with the orders and I wait 30 minutes for one deliver and the manager was very rude. I called the restaurant because it was not parking lot available and he told me to come in side because he was upstairs. Great service right ! I will never go back to this restaurant. Very unorganized
