Very flavourful food, kind service and great portion size. Highly recommend to anyone looking for halal food in the area. I had a crispy chicken gyro with fries - super fresh and seasoned. and my husband had al pastor with rice. The beef was super flavourful and not too salty. Also a great environment! Not too busy on a Saturday. Love from Canada!
Terrible food and service. We went there today at 9:15 PM today placed our order (group of 6). The guy told us we cant order anything that has rice if we do we have to wait 40 minutes. So we ordered items that doesn’t have rice and the guy told us we have to wait about 20 minutes. The restaurant was mostly empty. We got our order around 10:30PM. We went up to them a few times and the owner there was very rude and first said they are working on it and later said go sit down if we are done we will bring it to you. This was my first time going there and last. The food was terrible even after the wait. I got beef taco that had terribly flavored dry beef and barely any meat in chicken gyro. I wouldn’t recommend you guys to stay away from this place and the restaurant should take those tacos off from the menu. Those were terrible and the meat was old. I felt really sick after eating it. I will be contacting the health department about this.
Went to this place 2 weeks ago and was berated by (*edit) worker because my girlfriend paid for our meal, (I guess in certain cultures u aren’t a man if u dont always pay) ..i chalked it up to cultural differences and said maybe he was joking so decided to give him another shot, should have trusted my gut. Went today asked if i could get the hot sauce on the side and He was disrespectful again….couldnt let it slide again. so long story short after him grabbing a knife, threatening to kill me all the while calling me a “faggot because she paid for you food” i walked out…Dont let your woman pay if u do decide to patronize!
Today was my first time. It seems as if the owners are present. Everything was spotless, really enjoy that, great attention to detail. And the food is good. But I'm not sure. Halal and Mexican go together. And it isn't as if they are being blended. It's just you can get tacos, or a gyro. It seems like food more fit for the university district. Certainly high quality raw materials, not much original.
Did not plan to come here, had the best food here. Good things can happen when you dont plan.
I ordered online, when I tried to pick up my food the place was close it was only 7:46 when I got there. They suppose to close at 9pm. They still took my money even though they were closed smh
Food was disappointing, we ordered loaded nachos with a long list of toppings but they forgot the cucumbers, jalapeños, and sour cream. We paid extra for queso but was very underwhelming amount. We felt like they weren’t giving enough of the sauces and small amount of toppings to chip ratio. The beef that they used was not good and had a sponge-like texture.Only thing worth getting here is the chicken over rice with white sauce. I feel like they can work on being more generous with their sauces since we pay extra for them anyways.
Tried their UB location and food was terrible. Heard that things improved with the Hertel location so I scheduled an order on Doordash for delivery 2 hours later. Dasher arrived and was told by Chick Mex that they see the order but never confirmed it so there is no order. Dasher said this has happened multiple times at this restaurant. The restaurant didn't even close out the order so I had to contact Doordash to get my refund.
Tasty, healthy, fresh and inexpensive food. A Must visit for a halal diet follower and non followers alike.
The beef tacos were not good. The beef was crunchy and tasted like it was yesterday's leftovers. Not fresh. The toppings are ok, but the beef not so good. Also, it is $12 for 3 small, stale tacos. I like the concept of tacos and Middle Eastern quisine, but the food has to be fresh. I paid over $30 for the tacos and a small falafel wrap. Not a good deal.Another issue was my friend and I were sitting at the bar, which is great for the place, but no bar service. We had to order drinks/ alcohol at the food station near it. A minor problem, but don't have a bar, if you don't want bar customers. It wasn't that busy either at lunch time. There were 3 parties working, but took long to order and serve for a small restaurant with around 6 customers. Maybe I went on a bad day for them. I hope it gets better, I like the concept of the restaurant.
