I feel that the blindly obvious meaning of the term, “fast food” is lost on this lot. The Governors Island street food stand… not only do they take a lifetime to take your order, but the wait for your food is even longer. If you are hungry (because why else would you go to a food stand), then you may prefer to venture elsewhere or chew on the nearby lawns like a cow because imitating a cow is the closest you’ll come to beef during your time on Governors Island. I’m literally still waiting while I write this - I joined the queue an hour ago, my order was placed over 30 minutes ago (time stamp on the photo). Maybe if I camp out for the night, I can enjoy a breakfast from these guys.

Forgot to take pictures inside the store, but I went the first time today to get ground meats for some Georgian dishes! The ground lamb for the kebabi was phenomenal and more flavorful (but not in a too-strong way) than any lamb I’ve had. The ground pork and beef were fabulous in the khinkali (soup dumplings). Everything in the shop is very reasonably priced, including the fruits and vegetables. I’ll have to grab sausages the next time. Thanks Meat Hook for so much care in your meats!

My Favorite place for bone marrow!!

I live nearby and have started going once/twice a week to get a half chicken for my meals. It's pricy, but it's the right size for one person (half chicken), and fresh. Being able to buy chicken that isn't sitting in the blood absorbers really makes a difference- the chicken doesn't smell when you go to open it up and cook it!They have basic produce and that comes in handy if I need something quick, and don't want to stop somewhere else for garlic, etc.Staff is super friendly too!

1st time going in there today and the service was horrible ! I waited like 15 minutes to get help and there was other people waiting to god knows how long . They are very over priced for there meat . God I'd never go there again I got bills to pay . My mommy and daddy don't give me $ I gotta work .. get this though after I left I forgot to get a pound of white cheese as I was waiting for the bus I noticed another butcher shop so I was like I'll just go here and try it out . I went in and there was 2 older gentleman and they were the nicest guys . I ordered the cheese and he said that will be all I said yes sir . He rings it up $4 ! I go I ordered a pound , and he goes I know I put it and he giggled a bit I said really $4 that's it he said yes so I gave him the $4 and I explained that the people across the street are legit quadruple a pound and he just stayed quite didn't wanna say anything wrong about them that's how much respect they have for everyone . I'm gonna be going there definitely from now on 110 % . Also he gave me a slice of cheese and it was actually really great quality cheese . Very good taste and cheap . I can't wait to try the meats next time I go . I'll definitely update this comment box how meat quality is

I ordered 2.5 lbs of lamb stew meat yesterday and ended up getting a literal pound of fat. This is completely unacceptable. $40 for this ?!!?! This really ruined my recipe, I am so disappointed.

Excited to find morcilla blood sausages. Also excited to find dry aged ground beef. Never seen that before. Bought a curry sausage, a rainbow sausage and a dry aged English banger. Also bought a taste bomb for a steak I now need to buy to use it on. Interesting place if a tad expensive.

Can you please list accurate hours? Just pretty far out of my way after work to get to a closed shop

Super helpful and expert butchers. An excellent, curated selection of local, artisanal and American-classic provisions. Local produce. The best meats in North Brooklyn!

Great selection of meats and other gourmandia to build a delectable feast. Butchers are knowledgeable and happy to share their insights in how to best prepare your choices.
