My girlfriend and I went here last night and thought we were going to get a few drinks. I gotta say, the vibe at this place felt awesome and we both were really enjoying our experience until our waiter (who wasn’t friendly at all) decided to throw our bill down at our table after one cocktail without saying a word. No “would you like another one?”, “how were those those drinks?”, just threw our bill down on the table as he passed, as if we weren’t even there. We found this to be incredibly rude and decided to leave immediately since this was so off putting. Excellent drinks, but really poor service service for our first time…
It’s nice that the bar hires convicts to help them re-enter the society, but the bearded, hat-wearing waiter (manager?) should really learn some manners with his parole officer because that’s a really rude way to speak to your customers when you want them to simply move to a different spot. The bar itself is overrated and it seems like it hasn’t been refurbished since the sixties, when it apparently opened. They will also try to fit as many people as they can, so enjoy breathing into another persons neck.Lastly, it gives off racist vibes. The barmen was complaining that someone ordered a ‘Moscow Mule’ and they should remove the cocktail because of the situation in Ukraine. Well done creating unnecessary hate, this will definitely help people in Ukraine and Russia.TL;DR rude staff, expensive drinks, very busy and just not worth coming.
Great ambiance and people. The drinks are very tasty and who knew, the food is actually amazing. Love the burger, deviled eggs and salads
Fabulous place to enjoy a cocktail or six. Great people run the bar, and it's easy to wile away an afternoon.
The best bar in Brooklyn and possibly the city, bar none. We returned night after night during our recent stay for delicious night caps, a warm and welcoming bartender and owner, and a retro space that feels like a dive bar with a simple food and cocktail menu that bely a truly elevated experience. Wish I could go back again but will have to plan my next visit instead!
The fries are really good. Decent burger. But I have to mention the fries again they are really crispy.
I had an awesome experience here. I was greeted by a hostess immediately and seating right next to the door with a window view of Atlantic Avenue. I expected to be cold, but the heat was pumping right in my area which was an awesome (and I assume intentional) move to make sure every since seat was comfortable here.Me and my friend got an appetizer to split: the basket of fries. The fries were around $10 and they lasted us ALL NIGHT and were incredibly crunchy and tasty.I had two servings of The Long Island Gimlet which was a phenomenal drink — tasted like an elevated Moscow Mule. The service was attentive, friendly, and accommodating.
The burger is a must try in the area - fantastic beef and excellent fries. Come grab a cocktail, get a burger and chill for a bit!
Service was great and don’t want to downplay the wait staff but the overall vibe and especially the management/host staff was extremely unwelcoming and unpleasant. Would not recommend. So many other bars in the neighborhood with better food and way better drinks and way, way, way better service. Would go literally anywhere else in a half mile radius.
Great drinks, great food, great atmosphere, I'm just upset it took me so long to get over here! Phillip at the bar is a real gem, hilarious and a cocktail wizard. Can't wait to come back.
