All of the positive reviews here are spot-on. The food is delicious and the people who own this place are so kind, welcoming, and accommodating. They couldn't have been more friendly. The food...oh, the food. Maybe the best soul food of my life. This is exactly what I want every soul food restaurant to be - simple, unpretentious, almost impossibly tasty. They have a great mix of sides, from stick-to-your-ribs to veggie options like collard greens, sweet potatoes, etc.If you like soul food at all, you must go here. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't.

Go eat at Taste of Heaven, you will not be disappointed. I was picking up a rental van around the corner from TOH and I was told I had to wait an hour, so me and my buddy set out for some food while we waited. We stumbled upon TOH. I was hooked from the first bite. I had rice and peas with the jack Daniel’s ribs with the candied yams, Omg, incredibly delicious. Outside of my own moms rice and peas these were the best I have ever had. The ribs fell of the bone and they were moist af. The yams topped it all off beautifully. I’ve been back twice, The owner a native of the neighborhood was the kindest, sweetest, attentive person ive met in a while. His wife and Daugther equally as kind. Go to taste of heaven and thank me later. Peace and bon appetite!

Omg!!! This is the best soul food I have ever had and coming for the south. I mean growing out in south and eating as a hobby. I don't understand why the line is not there when the doors open but this place is truly a gem in New York if soul foods got a honest look by the restaurant rating agencies this place would be top 100 in the world. No lies the meat was perfect soft fall off the bone everything was season with thought and experience to make amazing connections across your plate. Then to top it all off you get a big 44oz or cool aid ? that's dope! I had a lot of great food in New York and I am sure there plenty more great places but this is my forever return spot when I am in town. Forget the lights and vibe and unique places eat here first just to set the tone for the city!!!!

This place was everything!!!!! Food was hot /tasty and had all the right spices. ? Owners were extremely nice, welcoming & served with a smile?. Building small but it was a great day to sit outside for lunch. We (7 family members) were on vacation and stopped by based on googling Soul Food Restaurants in NYC. It might be a good thing that we were visiting the area instead of lived here, because we would probably go broke from eating here everyday & Taste of Heaven would get all our money. ?? Well actually not really (we wouldn’t go broke) because the value was really good for the portion of food. Anyway- we really enjoyed everything! Our experience was ?? noticeably great. I totally recommend you stop by Taste of Heaven.

Amazing food and friendly staff! If you’re lucky they’ll be serving Shepards pie (so good). Good sized portions too. Feels like having a meal with family

AMAZING!!! VERY nice workers as well!!! If I could give more stars I would!

I mean, this place is last meal status. I have a growing love affair with their ribs, which are immaculately seasoned (jack daniels especially good) and slip right off the bone. Collards are so rich and savory, salmon is not even on the same continent as the words "over cooked," rice is explosively flavorful. Also, the family that owns it is so friendly. They are such kind people who really care about feeding people well. The love is in the food.Do yourself a favor and eat there.

????? OMG food literally tastes like a warm hug. No other way to describe it. Food was hot and fresh. Got a large dinner with jack daniel turkey wings, Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Everything was on point! Will definitely be back.

I have never felt more welcome and looked after in a restaurant. We came in just before closing (sorry) but the owner/head chef bent over backwards to look after us, to give us what we wanted, and to make us feel at home (even though we were only getting takeout!).As a visitor to Brooklyn, this was my highlight - a moment of real human connection, and the food is indescribably good. The only regret of my trip was that I didn't have a chance to visit Taste of Heaven more than once.

Down home cooking and caring friendly staff. The rice, candied yams and green beans were excellent. You can taste the love! My great grandma passed away and I miss her cooking dearly. This gave me that old feeling of being "taken care of" and "Child, eat your vegetables"...just like the sign says a taste of heaven!!!!
