great spot with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and overal ambiance that makes for an easy return. the plates are well composed and approachable for both meat eaters and vegetable peeps. the frozen drinks be hittin, homemade fries are always better, and the chicken was mad juicy with great complimentary things on each dish. would def come back with anyone from my lady to my parents.
I never write public reviews on google, but this restaurant has a problem that needs to be fixed asap, because the food was amazing and our server was super nice. I had cancelled my outdoor reservation due to bad weather and it was unfortunately only an hour before the reservation time, so I was automatically charged $80 ($20 per person). I called the restaurant and the young lady who answered my phone, said that it's "impossible to give refund because it's automatically charged". After realizing that the outdoor seating is heated and protected from wind, I told her we will make it. She said she will talk to the manager and make sure I get a refund. We went to the restaurant and it was surprisingly empty so we were offered indoor seating (it would have been nice if this was communicated beforehand) and had amazing brunch. But, when we received our bill, there was this credit card charge fee that was not explained beforehand. It's a small amount so we didn't mind but when we said we've never seen anything like that for goods and services that is not under $10, the same lady said in a rude manner, "It's actually common here." Um no, I've lived in the city for 5 years and it's not common. Anyways, 5 days after the visit, I checked my bank account and guess what, the $80 has not been refunded. This lady was rude and unprofessional the whole time, and it's so unfortunate because I would absolutely go back for food if she hadn't ruined the experience.
I have returned to Strangeways several times! The cocktails and mocktails are excellent. The food is always good and the service is great. Some of my favorites are the Rock Shrimp, Espresso Martini, and they once had a Lemongrass Braised Rabbit (no longer on the menu) that I still think about months later. Their oysters are ALWAYS fresh and tasty. Overall a great experience with a wonderful atmosphere.
I passed by here so many times and was always intrigued by the outdoor dining area.The drinks were really good. I had the braised short ribs and it literally melted in mouth. Also, the hummus with the flatbread is a must! We sat inside because it was cold but definitely will come back when it’s warmer to sit outside!
The food was delightful, unfortunately lost one star due to the service. I know it’s rough for servers right now, but the person who brought our food over gave plates to the wrong people and one plate took an additional 10 min. We didn’t know what the plates were supposed to look like and a member of our party began eating someone else’s food. When we finally figured it out we let the server know and he said “oh it’s your fault”. I wanted to believe I miss heard him but everyone at the table was in awe to the point we all stayed silent. Overall the ambiance was fantastic and I love that they’re dog friendly. Ordered the oysters to start and the duck salad for the entree.
Went for Valentines Day dinner. Fantastic atmosphere. Food was delicious. They had a great deal on the wine and a very friendly sommelier to help.
My husband and I come here regularly (every one or two weeks) because it is just that good. The service, the food, the vibes are all perfect.
Food was good, but not amazing. Service was pretty spotty tbh. I would go again, but it’s not that memorable. Maybe because I had dinner inside? Maybe eating in the garden area would have been interesting.
Loved this restaurant. Visited earlier this week and had a really great experience! Felt safe with COVID protocols and sat outside in the beautiful outdoor patio. Delish cocktails and the duck was stellar. Our waiter, David, was super knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommend for a romantic date night!
Turns out a random Monday night dinner works when you have Devon K as your server. Absolutely hilarious, kind, attentive and just an all around star. We enjoyed shishito peppers, eggplant burger, delicious mocktails and a few sides. Hats off to the chef. Thanks for making our Monday awesome Devon.
