Liked my dish but portions were a bit small for the price and other people didn't enjoy their dishes as much. Backyard is great for hanging out in the evening and staff is friendly!
We had a very nice night at Popina, but are unlikely to go back. The backyard is very nice (not a bad date spot!) and the wait staff was friendly. I will say the buratta and summer squash appetizers were very good. However the entrees were sub par. The pasta was under cooked and chewy and didn’t have a ton of flavor. The chicken was ok, but could have used some sauce or a more hefty side. Considering the prices of everything we would expect more out of the entrees in terms of quality. If I had unlimited money maybe I would come back, but even then would likely try my shot at one of Brooklyn’s million other pasta places.
HIGH quality establishment which prides itself on a truly special personality. If you’re not ordering a second hot chicken & bottle of wine … you’re making a grave mistake. I commend James, Chef Chris & entire team on their consistent excellence. 6 stars out of 5.
The space has a great ambiance, lovely for a date or party ! The chicken cutlet is boom and the arancini is one of a kind ! Also tried chocolate beer for the first time and it was very yummy !
Great sized backyard, that is shady so u won’t be killed by the sun in the summer time. Great section of global wines, great new school Italian food.
Fun Italian eatery with a nice selection of pasta dishes. We enjoyed the rigatoni and the orecchiette. Attentive service from young team.
Great neighborhood spot. Cute backyard with well-spaced tables. Inside is cozy. Fantastic food. They were able to accommodate a gluten allergy and dairy-free, and even modified one of the desserts. Brian was a rockstar.
Lovely setting for outdoor or indoor dining. The menu is a fun Italian menu with just the right southern cooked flair. Put simple the food GOOD and the wine list doesn’t gauge you which means it’s packed with good culture and people. There is also a bocce court which allows for a place for your kids to run around. I’ll be back.
Very disappointing. Tried three different pastas ( cavatelli with lamb, rigatoni guanciale, and fettuccine with jalapeño) all subpar. Fettuccine were overcooked and tasted very watery and lemony, couldn’t tell the breadcrumbs apart either, one big soggy mess. Chicken Milanese was the best dish. Appetizers were tiny and nothing exceptional. Very surprised this place has such great reviews.
Excellent service and fun vibe. Lamb shoulder was good although slightly too much bone and not enough meet. Wine on the other hand was well chosen and tasty. Bring warm clothes if you are sitting outside!
