Coffee was good.I came in at 7:30 am to get some reading and work done. But the music was loud (I asked if it could be turned down but it didn’t help), and then found out they don’t have Wi-Fi!So if you need a quiet place to work, this cafe is not that place but coffee is good.
Terrible terrible energy in here ! If you want to be literally the only restaurant or coffee shop in NYC still requiring masks , fine . But it does not excuse the attitude or way your Baristas spoke to me!! I am your neighbor , and I will never be back.
Amazing place. Community oriented with tons of programs (radio station, barista training, greenhouse, library, etc.) All the reviews mentioning cost of cold brew or other random complaints probably have no problem supporting DD & Starbucks insane pricing.
You realize the joke is not that you are accepting refugees, but the fact that you charge so much and yet expect that refugees can actually afford it?So in not getting the joke, getting offended by the wrong thing, AND leaving up your inane sign, you have proven how out of touch with reality you are.
The owner, Shamima Begum, was rumored to be am Isis bride before opening this shop. I do not stand with isis and would rather get my ice coffee at Dunkies where refugees are truly welcome and charged affordable immigrant prices
Great community coffee shop, cold brew is not $6 despite other misleading reviews saying otherwise. ++ on the atmosphere
One of the best Cappuccinos in Brooklyn, awesome vibes and there’s a book annex for all your subversive, poetic, activist, manifesto, how-to and literally needs. This is the lost coffee shop from another time.
Love the creative space Playground Coffee Shop has cultivated from the Playground Annex to Playground Radio and all the programming and initiatives that comes out of this place. Oh and the coffee slaps!
After hearing about how great this place was from all of my friends who are way more "hip" than me, I started saving money in an attempt to try it for myself. My boss at work overheard me talking about wanting to go here and he agreed to let me pick up extra shifts. After three months of working 18 hour days, I was finally able to afford one of the cold brews. Let's just say, it was not worth the blood sweat and tears. Also, the barista asked me if I liked to eat white fish and then laughed at me really loudly, almost as to invite others to join in.
there's nothing more based than posting edgy memes to own a small neighborhood business
