The dry aged steak for two was mouthwatering, and their spinach dip with the German fries go so well together. 100% worth the money. The staff was extremely polite as well!
Great authentic steakhouse - best steak I have ever eaten, cooked amazing and really delicious. Bacon was incredible. Staff friendly too, and prices not extortionate. Only knocking off a star because I thought the German potatoes and creamed spinach could have been better!
Is was good but not great… I anticipated more with being called “Best steakhouse in NYC” “Best steakhouse in USA”. I’ll add it to my top 20 but definitely not in my top 5. I’m happy that I went just to say I went but I won’t do it again. One thing I definitely did not like. I was seated where I could look out the front window. My waiter would go outside and smoke, I could see him out the window. He flicked the butt in the street and came back in straight to the tables. Did not go wash his hands. I saw him go smoke 3 times and never wash his hands upon his return.
Traditional American-style steakhouse. ??The steak was magnificent! Juicy, tender, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. We got the set for 2 and the price was very good for such a large portion. The steak comes with a cream of spinach, which was extra creamy. Looking to try their lunch-only burger next time! The interior is vintage-looking, with chandeliers and dark wooden walls. In contrast to how fancy it looks, the vibe is very casual, homey, and family-friendly. Service is also very casual and friendly. Our server Armand was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! It isn’t an “upscale” restaurant despite how it looks, but the food definitely lives up to its reputation. You won’t need to come in a cocktail dress or a tux. They have gender neutral restrooms and an accessible restroom.
Lives up to the hype. Went with the rib steak cause fat = flavor. Especially the charred parts on the bone and the rib cap! Service was spot on, don’t forget to dip the onion roll in the beef/butter juice.
This place lives up to the hype! Best steak I ever had and amazing service by the waiter. Anyone visiting New York must have this restaurant on their list.
The best bacon ever. Wonderfull meat. Good service. A pity they do not accept credit cards. Had to pay with cash. I recommend the place.
We used to go here practically every Saturday in the 70s & 80s. Also for my shared birthday w/my Father in early August. I moved away, then went back a few times in the 90s, 00s & 10s (for the birthday)...still amazing. We'd only go after lunch/before dinner rush & would have all the waiters to ourselves. What a blast every single time. The waiters would even join us in photos--even if they were initially discontent for whatever reason that has nothing to do with you--you would not BELIEVE what kind of antics we could get up to w/the staff!! "Sing with Us!" Ah, memories. I live far, not entirely up for travel anymore, but I will order from them; I keep a stock of Peter Luger sauce (NOT for the steak, honey--it's for salad) on hand. Every experience, and there were literally hundreds, if not thousands: Lovely all around. The ambience of the place was outstanding. I wish they'd open one in every state, even overseas. Thank you for reading, it was a lot of fun writing this out.
I heard stories about the experience and the quality of the food but was never able to match my travel schedule to visit. All the hype is true. The bacon is one of the best I had, the meat...unbelievable quality and the servers all have huge personalities. Cash or DEBIT card only...worth every penny.
After doing a lot of research into steak houses in NYC we decided to eat here. We where staying in TS & took the $3 tube there and back. The whole experience was phenomenal. That’s a mighty word to use but Peter Luger deserves it. The restaurant on a Wednesday in May was packed. Great atmosphere & friendly staff who are dressed old school. We had our steak medium with fries & the creamed spinach. The steak is really worth the hype- crispy on the outside and juicy , melt in the mouth in the middle. It really was a treat- by far the best meal of our trip. We picked the right sides which complimented the meal. It is expensive, but we knew that before we went & it was worth every penny. A great experience all round. 11/10!
