Peppas on Prospect Place is ROBBING you people who don't know how jerk chicken is served. GO TO PATTIE HUT ON NOSTRAND AND HERKIMER to find out how jerk chicken is supposed to be served. I GUARANTEE you would not be disappointed. If you try PATTIE HUT you would NEVER go back to PEPPAS. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. The reason that Peppas cut up their chicken the way they do is to give you as little a portion as possible. When you finally take it home all you really get is bones and chicken backs. THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SERVE jerk chicken.
I don’t even have Caribbean food that often but even I can tell the food is bland. The previous reviews are right. Service is also atrociously slow, not because of the workers themselves who are respectful and just trying their best but the fact that there are only 3 workers on a busy Saturday night. I walked in at 10 and left at 10:40.It seems that the place is benefiting from the goodwill from the past but as of today it ranks very high on my list of places I will never go to again. Trust the reviews.
Jamaican food can not be considered fast food because it’s labor-intensive to prepare. With that being said, this location is extra busy. Delivery service was backed-up, and staff seemed overwhelmed during my visit. The two kiosks were offline. The team must have been new, or maybe it was the movie production around the corner. The staple food ran out, so the folks who ordered online had to find other options.Nonetheless, the space is too small for customers & delivery service to share. I think they should set up a curbside pickup for delivery vendors. One sign defines the counter space, which makes people come in and skip you. Even with all the modern efficiencies, it still takes a long time to complete your order and receive it. The rice and peas are from a rice cooker. The staff workstation doesn’t work well together; the staff is respectful, but it Infuriates the customers and delivers personnel because of the errors. The food is good; their work area is clean, but they need a team meeting to organize the customers flow better. I’ll pay them another visit to try their oxtail.
I’ve had a love/ hate relationship with Peppas for years. The food is fantastic; however in the past the service has been incredibly off-putting.It was such a sigh of relief to have an experience today where the service (simple things like being greeted, eye contact, and positive attitude) was great thanks to Denise. she is a great addition to the team. Very efficient and pleasant. Happy you guys have her
I ordered Peppas from doordash several times and they have failed to add the jerk and barbecue sauce on the order. Also, the chicken has not been cooked well. There service for delivery is not the same as in person and also charge different prices when ordering through doordash and the quality of food is terrible from when you go in person. Also their customer service is very unprofessional.
FIRST VISIT.. I've known about Peppas a long time but never visited until Friday, March 11th 2022. I used to work at Dudleys Salon on Nostrand right around the corner on Nostrand Avenue back in the 90. I remembered the establishment so I thought to give it a try, I read a few of the reviews and went anyway. I ordered Two Porgies Escovich fish, jerk chicken lunch and medium jerk chicken dinner. Small Jerk chicken only, a salad and festivals. The chicken was NOT Jerk flavored as I expected although the reviews did mention chicken was bland, I tasted a piece b4 I left. I had to douse it with hot sauce and BBQ sauce the time it miranated in that sauce when I got home chicken was hot and Spicy. If you like Spicy drown it in hot sauce and BBQ sauce. It tasted pretty good ?. Oh and I asked for cabbage as a side and plantains I was given ONE plantain and was told that was a side. I told her to take that one plantain off and give me some cabbage. That truly took the cake one plantain as a side?
I Remember my first time getting food at Peppa's. It was winter early days of Covid. People waited in the cold for jerk chicken. People had good things to say. I enjoyed it then. A little over a year and it's nothing like it was then. Chicken lacking something. Just tried the oxtail. Had some if it because I was hungry. Very bland, rubbery, needed to be cooked some more. Mr. Owner/ Manager get back to basics. Talk to the chefs. They are dropping the ball.
Great customer service. I picked up two orders for delivery and then placed my order in the store. The woman at the counter was so pleasant, very polite which is very rear in BK. Clean inside. The food was good, I'd just suggest a little more seasoning. I ordered the fish.
Good food, terrible service. Avoid lunch hour, never cater from them. Skip altogether if you're immunocomprised. They don't like to wear masksUpdate:A marked improvement in service my last 3 trips. Please keep up the good work. Increased rating from 1 to 4 stars
I ordered escovitch fish, french fries, plaintains and 2 cans of Pepsi. Uber eats showed up with jerk chicken, which I gave back to the delivery guy. 1.5 hours later, Prospect Pl to Utica Ave? I kept calling the restaurant to see if my order was still on the counter, so someone else could pick it up. Nobody answering the phone at Peppa's. And I'm still hungry!I want to give no star rating to Peppa's. My order was $26.98. And yes, the Uber eats delivery guy was tipped $8.
