Had a group of 6 and we ordered everything on the menu to share. The server is great at recommending how much food to order for the group, answering questions, and taking care of you.The back garden is where you should sit when the weather is nice
I’m all about quality over quantity, but I honestly cannot say Olmsted presented its diners with either. Charging double digits for “lobster crackers” that are simply shrimp chips are a joke. An order of “kale and crab rangoons” only came with 4 per order, propped up in a Chinese take-out box accompanied with a pair of chopsticks—why is this necessary? It does not add to the experience or theme of the restaurant. The “carrot crepe with little neck clams and sunflower” was comprised of a crepe about the size of my hand, 4-5 clams and shredded carrots, sprinkled with sunflower seeds. The “rutabaga tagliatelle” is a failed effort in substituting pasta with a healthy, no carb alternative. The only reasonable item ordered was the “Calabrian hot fried soft shell crab with super creamy polenta.” I had high hopes for this place after reading such great reviews, but don’t be fooled. The only thing decent is the cozy indoor and outdoor seating and drinks, but even those don’t make going here worth it.
Having scored a table on Saturday night during prime time, it was one of my favorite evenings thanks to the team that collaborate on this excellent restaurant. Warm welcome, very busy but no wait, knowledgeable twists to classic dishes, genuinely attentive associates combined to hit all the high notes. An open kitchen adds to this intimately sized restaurant that serves outside in their rear garden as well as the recent addition to street seating. The restaurant is umami. Loved it!
came here for lunch prix fixe with 6 people and it was a wonderful experience, although I had slightly higher expectations going in. the food was fresh and high quality, but the portion sizes were very small. we left feeling pretty hungry. however, for such a creative menu and fun experience, I’d say it’s worth it to come once. olmsted also does a fantastic job accommodating for food allergies and dietary restrictions (although their vegan/gluten free bread option was severely disappointing, every other substitution was great). our favorites were the soup and the carrot cake. they also have very fun and delicious mocktails and cocktails!
A highly recommendable casual yet refined restaurant good for any occasion. It’s casual in the sense that the wait staff won’t explain in great detail what’s in each dish or where it came from, despite there being a garden and a living wall of micro greens when you walk in. The menu (pre-pre-fixe) is always short that 3 people could realistically order everything on it.The beef tartare larb is a very natural combination between tartare and Thai influences. The presentation is beautiful and practical - each portion comes with lettuce, mint, cilantro, and fish sauce. The tartare is fairly coarse with fried garlic, cashew, and small shrimp for texture. The flavors are not as intense as larb, partly because New York but also partly because the raw meat affords less flavor, but it is still thoroughly flavored in fish sauce. Overall, the endeavor is recommendable and I enjoyed it.The beer battered squash rings had a furikake (suitably called fallrikake) that adds in plenty of fall nuts for crunch. The beer batter is distinct in flavor, and quite dense in crunchiness. Amidst all this, the squash is easily lost, but emanates a faint sweetness. The pork collar was a playfully chewy piece that was quite porky in flavor with the pork jus that was almost creamy in consistency. It was a hearty dish in flavors. The froyo was the perfect textbook example of contrast. Frozen yogurt was paired with a honey cream more like meringue in consistency; both were in a state between solid and liquid but it didn’t mix. It was a contrast in hot vs cold, sour vs sweet. It was simple - just two things - with subtle hints of lavender flavor. When you have them together, their textures are separate, but this is ephemeral as they soon melt and come together dissonantly.
Average price for the style, large portions, great taste. Would come again.Tried the beef appetizer, think it was a beef tartare with fish sauce and cashew. Flavorful and larger than expected. Also had the duck, which has really intense flavours but balanced with great texture. Might have gone well with something sour to drink or on the side as well.
4.5 stars! Service, food and ambiance were all excellent. Our standout dishes were the rutabaga tagliatelle and chocolate mousse with crème fraiche whipped cream.
I love the exterior and interior decor. It’s small inside but they still feel spacious with the way things are. I haven’t get a chance to see the backyard and maybe next time with a reservation.
Praise they say is an application for more. If I failed to accept you it would show how ungrateful I am. I could not be less grateful to the person God has used to bless me and my family in general. I was introduced to mrs Anita a few months ago, right now I know how proud I can be of my financial state. Mrs Anita crypto helped me with the small capital I invested and I made so much profit for myself and my family. Thank you very much Mrs Anita fx, and if you too are having a difficult business for yourself then contact her now. WhatsApp:+12133736954 Email:[email protected]
I missed a photo of the blooming mushroom that was so unexpectedly wonderful, but honestly everything was immaculate. All plates were nicely portioned, and tasted like farm to table comfort food. This is probably our new favorite restaurant.
