Sushi Bar Japanese Gluten-Free

Get the toro and the set meal — solid and interesting. Coconut shrimp can’t go wrong; bass roll was quite good

I visited this place because of the beautiful interior design, the food is good in general, 5 temaki only $28. If you are a sushi expert, then I don’t think it is a right place for you. If you are looking for a place having beer and coffee also some great Japanese dishes, this would be yours.

We walked in and requested a table for two at 7:08pm on Sunday of a Monday-anchored holiday weekend. The host took my info and informed me that wait time would be roughly 75 minutes, and seating would be at the bar. I received a table-ready text 27 minutes later at 7:35pm and was seated promptly upon arrival.Craving something refreshing and light, we each ordered The Signature Set from The Temaki Counter, which consisted of 5 hand rolls: tuna, scallop, coconut shrimp, spicy sea bass, and cucumber.Tuna - wasabi forward, great opening rollScallop - the roe doesn’t add much, but the flavor profile is good otherwise. Chili flavor is good and somewhat mala/numbingShrimp - warm deep fried coconut shrimp, sweet and sour notes, very shrimp depth due to mini shrimpsSea Bass - Nice texture and balanced flavor profile, hot sauce bright out the natural flavors of the ingredientsCucumber - surprisingly flavorful, cucumber didn’t overpower the roll and wasn’t super fibrous, black sesame was umamiOverall, just what was needed on a hot summer day. We would love to come again to either the West Village location or to try the other menu items!

The rolls are uniquely crafted -The flavors bend extremely well together! The idea of having (plant-based) wrappers that keep the rolls together without sacrificing their crispness is a unique one, and helps maintain the freshness of the noriMy fav roll was the truffle mushroom roll (it was a beautiful roasted whole mushroom with BIG flavors.Second fav; salmon & avo - a classic bThe fries (make sure you get aioli sauce) and calamari (I don’t even like calamari typically but this is a game-changer) were bomb ?(Also my bev was delicious! I didn’t even taste the alc ?)

Too difficult to eat (completely falls apart), chewy tough nori and not worth the cost.

The food was amazing and flavorful. We each got the signature set plus a few additional rolls. They add Wasabi to the rolls so if you don't want heat then ask for it out. The drinks were nice, but the cocktails were a bit watered down. Overall, I would recommend and definitely come back.

Yes, the reviews are correct. A bit pricey but This is the place to go. Reserve the table ahead because you would end up waiting for a table over 1-3 hrs. Temaki sushi at this place is chef’s kiss ?‍??. (Highly recommended) try the coconut tempura thingy

No matter how many times I came, I never tired of eating here. High quality of food, amazing balanced and flavored dishes, cool staffs. Can't be more happy. Try their Nani Nori Salad, I'm not a big salad person but love it so much. And the fish skin chip, the dip just so delicious.

My newly wedded wife was pleased with this one. So was I. Really. Fa real. This is great!!!Take the Signature set. Full stop. And the spicy tuna dip. Mmm. And the potato salad. She seemed less annoyed with me after the 2nd drink as well. Btw - I don't like scallops nor shrimp but still love the signature set. Don't do the vegan dessert... it's not good.

So so delicious. I really enjoyed the temakis from the signature set. From the signature set my favs were the tuna poke and the scallop with tobiko and lemon. The spicy sea bass was my least favorite because the gochujang overpowered the taste of the fish. We also ordered the spicy crab dynamite which was delicious and the salmon lovers dip which was a nice starter. I can’t wait to go back and try the other foods on the menu. I recommend sitting by the bar although it’s less private. It’s nice that the chef serves you the temakis one by one instead of being served everything all at once at the tables. It slows the pace of eating and also makes sure each of your temakis is enjoyed freshly made and at the right temperature
