Was looking for a place that had some pastries and coffee and spot on! Ordered some butter cookies that reminded me of my college days and an eclair which was so rich. The chocolate and whipped cream was the real kind (no fake cream or chocolate made from vegetable oil that tastes plasticy!) definitely will come back to try their other options. Iced vanilla coffee didn’t taste like coffee, stick to food
Fantastic muffins, quick and efficient staff, and a great selection of pastries. Best of all, the bakery’s large selection of cakes are also sold by the slice. The tres leches cake may be the best deli dessert in all of New York. It is also conveniently packaged in a plastic container that is perfect for housing the dessert while walking home without making a mess.
Good deli with many options. Their chocolate croissant is good. Ordered the $4.5 egg sandwich, it was just a bun and omelette with nothing else in it. You need to mention if you need other items on top. The cranberry muffin was okay.
No doubt, the best croissant in the city so far. Almost as good as Parisian one. The muffins are excellent as well, and everyone is so nice there. An institution to (re) discover asap!
SO HAPPY with our order. Delicious sandwiches and cookies and delivered perfectly. Everything wrapped beautifully and neatly and so well organized- meats separate from vegetarian separate from gluten free (which were especially good), plenty of condiments, plates, napkins, gloves to serve, silverware, ice. And such a pleasure placing order over the phone and email with Tamika who was patient and thorough and professional and kind. Thank you!
One of our favorite deli/bakeries in Brooklyn. A neighborhood staple and go to spot around the holidays to pick up that perfect pie. Super friendly staff with top quality food.
Decent bakery with very good prices. Had some sort of caramelized cookie with chocolate inside (very good), a slice of cherry pie (mediocre; tasted no different than grocery store cherry pie), and the coconut pie (quite good).
I’m not happy. I grew up in BK Heights and when I was a kid in the 70’s and 80’s L&H was among the best delis in the city, a source of pride even for residents of the neighborhood. In particular, their chicken cutlet sandwich was the stuff of local legend amongst my childhood friends. Well that's all changed. My daughter was craving a chicken sandwich from a fast food type place and I promised her that L&H makes one of the best chicken cutlets in the city and she would not be disappointed. So we just went there and ordered the classic chicken cutlets on a roll. When the counter person handed them to me I thought they felt a little lighter than I remembered. Then when we got home and opened them up, I thought to myself, did I order a chicken cutlet on a roll or a dinner roll? I mean a White Castle hamburger would have been more filling and about 1/5 the price. Also the quality was disgusting. The cutlets were maybe a quarter of an inch thick and hard and stale. My daughter spit her’s out. So much for old school New York. Now L&H has expanded/franchised or whatever. Maybe they are having trouble covering costs because they are skimping on the goods. Next time I’ll just let my daughter go to McDonalds where I know they will at least have a modicum of quality.
Cake, breakfast sandwiches, salad
Not too long ago, you could grab a really good breakfast sandwich or pastry here on your way into the office. But with the baked goods showing up later and later, I find myself walking out empty handed more often than not. As my time has value, at least to me, I've stopped trying and tend toward lunch when they manage to get things together. I suppose that half my business is better than none. I will certainly update this post and my rating when they stop trying to sell me day-old rolls because the morning "delivery guy must be close by now," but not close enough.
