This is their newer location, the original is just off 8th Ave in Brooklyn. Parking on or near 8th Ave is never easy so I thought I'd try this location. The bad news is that parking is just as bad, the good news is the food is just as amazing as at the original location. This remains the best hot pot in Brooklyn, possibly even in all of New York City!Their sauce bar is included and it has great choices. If you like hot pot, you must go to LaoJie!I only get the spices soup base. It is so good I have yet to try the others.
Service was exceptional. Waiters constantly took the fat accumulation out of the soup broths, which I found to be really nice and caring. Quality of food was great as well and fresh. Whenever I would pick up a menu, the waiters would notice right away and ask me what I would like to order. Didn’t need to call for their help. My table was constantly clean since the waiters would offer me newer plates and more napkins frequently. Me and my party was constantly cared for. Loved the great selection of food. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.
Had a nice cozy dinner here with my family. We had 9 people and booked a private room. There was a minimum required spending amount for the room, I think it was $228, which we easily met with our base ayce and a couple additional pitchers of drinks. Can't go wrong with this location! Food was fresh and you get lots of it.
All the food was fresh and delicious. When you first arrive, they take your jackets and put them in a plastic bag. After they’ll ask you what soup base you want. I called ahead to ask if they have bbq anymore, and they told us they didn’t do bbq for a couple months already. The meat was fresh, and everything was nice. Even though it was hard to get the waiter and there were a few flies, we had a great experience. I would visit again! The drinks were fresh and good too. I hope I eat more next time.
I visited their original restaurant on 53rd Street & 8th Ave few times. Came to this 86th Street new restaurant the first time. AYCE hotpot. Price is not expensive. Food and service are both good. No wonder business is so good even during weekday evening.
Wonderful AYCE hot pot experience — looking forward to coming back soon!I've been to quite a few hot pot restaurants in the city, and I can confidently say that this place is one of the best that I've been to. The price is very reasonable, the servers are very attentive, and the quality of the food is quite good (especially for the price). I was also very happy with the well-maintained condiments station — one of my biggest concerns with other places is often the mess that inevitably arises in the area, but this location kept all of the sauces very organized and clean.
We subbed in twice within the last month. Once as a party of 4 downstairs and as a party of 11 in a private room upstairs. Both were great experiences. The servers were very attentive and polite downstairs. Every time we picked up the menu, they were instantly by our table to see what we wanted to add. The meats and vegetables were fresh and clean. The private rooms have karaoke available.
LaoJi continues to be our favorite hot pot place in Brooklyn. And this is absolutely because of their top-notch fresh and high quality ingredients. Meats are cut very thin, and the seafood and vegetables taste like they were pulled out of the ocean/garden yesterday. This new location offers more space, individual broth options for your tabletop, and the convenience of being located directly underneath the Bay Parkway D train station. The spicy broth also seems to be more chock full of chilés than the Sunset Park location, if that's what you're looking for. Overall a great addition to the neighborhood, and happy to see that they've replicated all of the positive elements of the first restaurant.
We love this hotpot place. Affordable AYCE hotpot! The meat, seafood, and veggies were very fresh! Especially love the shrimp, clam, and squid, fresh and sweet! We also love the shrimp paste and tong ho (Chrysanthemum). Desserts and Plum juice were all delicious!Customer service was on point. The waitress was sweet and friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back!
Love Laojie for AYCE hotpot! My husband and I go to the 8th avenue location all the time when we lived in the area. Recently tried this new location and we had a great experience. The quality of food was amazing and I was surprised to see the huge clam on the menu. Service was always the best. Everyone was friendly, attention to details and welcoming. Amazing interior. A variety of different sauces to choose from and dessert was free. A slight increase on the price but not bad at all considering how bad the inflation currently is. We would drive 40min to eat here. Highly recommend!!!
