Got the brisket sandwich, very spicy but the meat was very moist. Service was slow.Edit - Have been back three more times and I have to say that the food is great, tried the ribs, the brisket, the Vietnamese wings, beef rib and at this point cannot tell which one is my favorite. This place is a must if you like barbecue
A year ago I was already here, I took sandwich brisket then and now. Last year it was juicy and fresh. Now, the meat is somehow not fresh. It looks like he's been spoken to several times. The price has gone up and the quality has gone down. Hope they change for the better :)
Doesn't quite have the same feel as the red hook hq but that is splitting at hairs. The chopped brisket in the sandwich can't compete to the thick slices you otherwise get, but it's still an excellent sandwich. Industry city is lucky to have hometown bbq.
A bit pricey but good. Nice place
Hmmm..where do I begin? Maybe it's the 10 minute wait to even order at an empty restaurant. So, let's start there. My husband and I are in town from St. Louis. We decided to try Hometown-Industry City to see if they truly knew how to smoke meat. We ordered 1/2 lb of brisket, jerk rib tips, beef ribs and fries. They didn't have beef ribs even though their menu indicates they would...nevertheless we proceeded to purchase the rest. We got the brisket and beverages immediately. The jerk rib tips and fries "come from the kitchen". So, while we waited for that we decided to dig into the brisket. The first order was still bleeding on the backside and we returned it. The next order of brisket wasn't that great either. Let me just say there was 1/4 fat on the half pound meat. The bark looked lovely but was bland. The meat wasn't sturdy and felt more like minced meat in our mouths. I mean look at the photos, the quality of the meat or lack thereof is evident. Moving along...the jerk ribs came. They should not be called "jerk" because they didn't have the slightest hint of traditional jerk flavoring. They tasted like.....pepper/salt/paprika ribs....that's the best description I have for ya. The meat was quality but the flavor was dismal. The fries...well they're fries...shaped similar to potato chips but thicker. Overall, this restaurant's brisket and rib tips suck.If you're ever in St. Louis swing by some REAL bbq spots like Salt & Smoke, Sugarfire, Pappys or Bogarts. You won't be disappointed and you'll definitely kiss the "cook". Lol
It’s a 1 for me, dog. I could live with the prices if the food was outstanding. It is not, not even close. A tiny flavorless portion of mac & cheese, half a pound of ribs (just say 2 ribs, guys, for $34) which came cold, underseasoned and tough, the wings were tasty but that could not save this meal. Dinosaur BBQ beats this place for taste and value.
I went to the location on a Saturday. I wanted the beef ribs but they were out of it. I had the Oaxaca chicken and a 1lb brisket with a side of their queso styled Mac and cheese. My chicken was actually pretty good and well seasoned. The brisket was decent nothing to rave about but to be fair I didn't drive it with any of their sauces. The mac and cheese was pretty meh honestly and I was expecting a bit more. Maybe I'll give the original location a try. Anywho the service was decent overall and there was a steady stream of customers and they ran out of food by 6pm ish so that must speak to something right.
Pastrami is usually burned lol. All other sandwiches and food are great. They used to have Thai sandwich, that was my favorite. Unfortunately they have it no more. But overall, I would recommend to try.
The food was great...that I got, but I ordered to go and didn't get a burger that I ordered for my 3 yr old even though I was assured everything was there (parents you can sympathize with my situation when I got home) and when I called to let them know I couldn't get an actual person, only a recording. Disappointing since I drove from another borough...
Great brisket. Side dishes vary. Mac n cheese and Collar Greens are legit. The brisket queso, potato salad are not worthy of the meat that they are putting out.
