Love this spot for breakfast. Their salmon is DIVINE. I can’t recommend it enough (I think it’s served with some kind of caramelised onion?). Super nice staff and relaxed vibe too

High ceilings, huge windows, and pastel walls with the cutest graphics to greet you—what more could you ask for from a café? Gertie’s is an all-day restaurant and bar serving up “Jew-ish” eats. Think bagels, latkes, matzah ball soup, the whole spiel. Service can be a bit slow, but they’re all very friendly so I choose to overlook it. Stop by on a bright summer day for peak sun drenched café vibes.

Ok this is not a good photo but the bagel was excellent and so fresh. But the real star of the show is the pickles ? something about the flavor of these is unique and totally amazing. I got the Abba sandwhich. I highly recommend this place. I sat here and did work for about 4 hours on a Wednesday and they kept refilling my coffee! So great. Love this place. Everything is fresh and homemade.

Fantastic experience at Gertie as always! The staff is so welcoming, food is great, and music is wonderful. They can get busy on the weekends so I recommend coming in earlier or on weekdays. The German potatoes are AMAZING and make it one of the best breakfasts in Brooklyn! It’s a clean restaurant with dine in and takeout options plus they offer delivery orders through Doordash so it always works.

Everything about Gertie is whimsical from the decor to the staff to the food. One leaves feeling extremely satisfied and satiated, no matter what you eat, but also very happy. It is clear that both the patrons and staff are having a good time. I have favorites - the chicken salad, matzoh ball soup, chicken schnitzel, German Potato Fries, The Egg and Cheese - but I also love trying new things on its menu, like the lemon ricotta pancake with bourbon syrup on weekends. Everything is always delicious. Add to this that the staff is socially conscious, preparing food for those in need, holding voting drives and fund-raisers, most recently for Ukraine, and Gertie is hard to resist.

This place is the absolute best. I never go to Brooklyn without making sure to get a bagel and a cocktail. Vegan friendly - certain pastries and a vegan cream cheese options for brunch, amazing salads and in-season veggies served hot on sandwiches for lunch. They have homemade pickles and hot sauce which I always buy to take with me along with a great selection of bottles of unique wine. Amazing food, great staff, and a feel-good vibe.

Gertie is a fantastic restaurant. I order nearly weekly. The staff is thoughtful and considerate. The food is always delicious. At this point, I think I've had everything on the menu. Highlights include the Chicken Schnitzel sandwich and the Broccoli Melt, but to be honest, the best part is ordering the Pastry Jackpot. The rotating selection of cookies Gertie has always pleasantly surprises. The Jammy Sugar Cookie is a current favorite.

Revamped brooklyn deli with a sprinkler of hipsters. The poppy seed tart was good. They have kombucha. Thanks god they had colored pencils!

I ordered take out to get some comfort food in this cold weather. While I am enjoying my frozen bagels and loved the French fries, I was disappointed by the matzoh ball soup. The matzoh ball was tough, hard to cut through, unlike any matzoh ball I’ve ever hard (in a bad way). The texture was unpleasant, it was hard to chew through, and not what I was hoping for. I think if I ever go back I’ll stick to the breakfast foods and pastries.

After making reservations, informing that we were running late, and showing up within the 15 minute grace period, we learnt that our table was given to someone when we arrived. Sure! The space itself is very bright and has a true Brooklyn vibe to it. They have both, front outdoor seating and a backyard seating (which is self-service). The contactless service here is really effective and we opted to seat ourselves in the backyard seating which was warm enough on a relatively cold Saturday. We ordered a few drinks which included Grapefruit Mimosa ($12), Bloody Maria ($13), and Spiked Arnold ($13). Drinks were just ok and felt more like mocktails than cocktails. For food, we got the Everything Spice Mushrooms ($8) and German Potato Fries ($8) to share and I ordered the Mushroom Melt ($14) Deli Sandwich. I highly recommend ordering sandwiches with some sauce as the base sandwich was missing sauce. And while the description in the menu of our items looked very nice, the food unfortunately failed to live up to those expectations. My sandwich was overpowered by peppers which did not have any pickled taste to it, I could barely taste any caramelized onions! The only standout dish was the everything spice mushrooms - specifically the labne that it was served with.Service was good and noise levels inside and outside were on the lower end. Friendly staff too. Overall we had a good experience but food was quite forgettable.
