My favorite bakery for the past 5 years, never had a complaint until I found this white powder substance… safe to say this bakery is going downhill with their baking goods while the prices are rising…never again- this was from my mocha mousse cake-purchased 6/22/22
I entered today on my graduation. I was with my family. We spent over $70 on desert (cookies for perspective, no cake or large items were purchased) . I asked for another box as the box was too full and I didn’t want the desserts to be squished and was told I could not have one. When I gave my reasons and asked why, the lady at the counter told me I couldn’t get a box because boxes have the store name. This comment was uncalled for and her attitude was unwelcoming and her tone felt accusatory and discriminatory. I have been going here for over 20 years. Never again. Do not waste your money or time to be made to feel as though your money doesn’t count. I even had my graduation cap on. I will never return or recommend anyone. It was a beautiful day of celebration. A bakery that charges SO MUCH MONEY FOR SUGAR AND FLOUR PRODUCTS. TAKE YOUR MONEY AND TIME ELSEWHERE DO NOT ENTER HERE, you will get treated poorly. Save your time and self respect. Disgusting, never again. Do better all you had to do was give a box, $75 dollars later and you can’t divide the products at the customers request. NYC is full of wonderful food that is better and much cheaper. I could have bought 2 cakes instead I got just a few cookies. Lesson learned. No one needs to be treated poorly or judged because of the color of their skin or otherwise. Your policies should serve not only the business but it should also serve the customers, if that is your intended audience. It was truly a horrible horrible horrible experience. Do yourself the favor. Go somewhere else. Less than 0 stars you shouldn’t own a bakery if this is how you treat people.............Thank you for your reply. I was displeased to be in that position. While discrimination may not be a part of your policy, that statement does not speak to what I experienced. While I understand the issues you have experienced in the past others should not pay the price for that situation, particularly when they are paying customers Additionally as to your point, please note, I explicitly asked the employee for another box, to distribute the goods amongst family. I even asked her to distribute the goods herself to ensure your product would be going into the box and sealed to avoid the issue you mentioned. It was a long standing family tradition to visit this bakery. I had not seen this individual in years, and they are now an elder and it was a lifetime tradition since their childhood. For those purchasing your goods particularly at the price point you sell at, I wanted this individual to know the product was coming from your establishment, it was within itself a part of the gift. If I wanted a brown bag, I would not have spent $70 I would have gone to the bodega and purchased a .50 cent cookie. I will not return, nor would I recommend the bakery to anyone regardless of their race. People may forget the words, but people do not forget how you make them feel. Particularly during this time, when we as the city of NY are finally being able to go back outside. This is a sad and unfortunate end to a long standing relationship. I will take my business elsewhere and recommend others do as well, why take the chance? The 1 star reviews, saying they wish they could leave 0 speak for themselves. So does the thread of consistent bad reviews throughout the years which repeat similar issues, likely the result of your inflexible policies. Once you know of a problem, perhaps you should fix it. How many people have to complain, before you make changes to the treatment of your customers. I should have checked instead of being nostalgic. If it looks like a duck, quack like a duck... you get it NY were smart cookies.
I have been looking for a bakery that uses "real" ingredients, my goodness, Fortunato's is amazing! Delicious, old fashioned Italian baked goods that my grandmother would approve of. Worth the trip, a true gem, outstanding!
Been wanting a Saint Joseph’s pastry for awhile. Got the fried zeppelin version with cannoli creme and orange peel. Strawberry & Pistachio mousse puffs and a cannoli. Limoncello looked good too. Next time. Took dogs to domino park afterwards.
If I could give zero stars I would!! Worst bakery ever! I don't know how they stay in business with all the other amazing bakeries near by! Stopped by on a Saturday with high expectations from what I'd seen on social media. Got a bunch of stuff to take home and try. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Complete waste of money! Literally everything was dry and stale. Could taste that it was sitting in the fridge for days or who knows!? Even longer!! I called on Sunday morning to let them know my disappointment and I asked her girl how often they bake everything. She said fresh every morning! I'm sure that's what she's told to say because that was a total lie! The taste and dryness of all the desserts beg to differ. The girl was super nice and told me she'd leave a message for her boss, Joe and he'd call me back Monday morning and he'd work things out with me. NEVER heard back from Joe! Week later and still nothing! If this is how they run their business so be it. 100% disappointment and even worse customer service! Never going back! You shouldn't waste a penny here! Totally not worth it!
I’m absolutely obsessed with their mini cheesecakes and cannolis. Also everything on their menu is worth picking up, especially their fresh bread.
Bakery items were OK. Got 7 layer cookies (good), cannoli (OK), and a coffee layered cake thing that was pretty dry.
I love, love, love this bakery!! It's one of the best bakeries in Brooklyn!! I have been coming to this bakery for years of service for my family and they have NEVER let me down. If you have a special occasion, I urge you to visit Fortunato Brothers they won't disappoint!!
Very cute! I had cannoli and a cappuccino and it was very delicious. It was my first time in Brooklyn and a friend from Brooklyn considered it the best cafe in the world, so that had to be my first stop. Well worth it!
Nice bakery! Many assorted delicious pastries and cakes for all occasions. The cappuccinos are delicious!
