Delicious! We accidentally over ordered. One dosa is plenty for two if you have appetizers. I got the Raza masala and it was my favorite.
Lovely chutneys and sambar. Dosa was great! Not too oily or greasy and the vada was large and well fried. We did miss filter coffee, which would have made it a perfect south Indian breakfast spot. Their masala chai was good.
Horrible service!! The male waiter was extremely rude to everyone in the restaurant (only 3 tables of customers, not busy whatsoever). He basically threw food on our table. Making extremely loud noise by throwing plates in the tray. He seemed very annoyed when we asked questions about the menu. When there were items missed in our dishes, he didn’t inform us in advance. Literally the worst service I have encountered in NYC!!! I felt bad for the owner of this restaurant who hires him, because the food was great. But definitely would NOT recommend this restaurant due to extremely unpleasant experience.
Mixed my order! Now lemme just say I love me a dosa but it’s really frustrating when you wait an hour for it just to get the wrong order. I’m also super mindful of things happening sometimes by mistake so I looked up this place here just to read everyone’s reviews and it looks like it’s a daily common review! Late orders and mixed/incorrect orders. So there you go. Consider yourself warned. I never really even bothered asking for a refund or replacement since I ordered through DoorDash and it wasn’t really their fault. Just thought of leaving this review instead.
We ordered 7 masala dosa and 5 mango lassi. When I leave the restaurant I forgot my AirPods. Then I go back there then manager said he have my AirPods but he can’t give it to me because we don’t give them tips. They didn’t give us good service why we have give them tips. They behaved like very rude.
Food was okay, not great - quite salty. Sadly the coconut rice that I ordered came with mold.
Food came quick. The shrimp curry was so salty I had to eat it with a lot of rice to make it edible. I didn’t even take the leftovers home. For the price I expected it to be way better or at least fun to eat. :/
Dosa Royale serves the best Dosas I've had in Brooklyn and I come from the land of Dosas. Their sambar hits the spot and chutneys are delicious. However, their north Indian food is bland and leaves a lot on the table. My opinion, stick to the South Indian food (all the food you don't immediately recognize :) ) and you're good1
As an Indian it takes a lot for me to like an Indian restaurant. Needless to say my expectations were not high coming in. The food is simple, I would even call it somewhat underspiced but in a surprisingly good way. Quick service and great flavor with the chutneys and sambhar hitting the right notes (spices, ginger and everything) and the absence of food coloring and too much oil that one finds in most Indian restaurants. Great job!
The dosas were crisp and light and the chutneys/daal flavorful and the right level of spice. The dining room is no frills and not the cleanest.
