Great cakes, lovely staff. I have done multiple birthday cakes in the last couple of years. The team at the bakeshop communicates well and efficiently via email (cake design, final view, payment). Everything is ready on time.
Love this place and pick up a small selection of baked goods from here about once a week! The chocolate cake in a jar is my absolute favorite. I also love getting the cake of the day slice, the cookies, and the bars. Had the raspberry pop-tart recently (pictured) and it was amazing! Have never had a bad experience in anyway here.
I ordered a custom fruit tart cake, mini cupcakes and gluten-free/vegan chocolate chip cookies from Buttermilk Bakeshop for my daughter’s 30th birthday. I asked for a few changes from the cake I saw just from an instagram photo. The process was so simple. I needed a delivery to a local restaurant. OMG!!!! Is all I have to say. Everything was just perfect. The cake was exactly what we asked for. And so very delicious. Everyone was raving about how fantastic it was. Even people who usually don’t eat cake at a party, tried it and loved it. The next day it was still great. So unusual. So light, not too sweet… just perfect. The cupcakes were an absolute hit. And the cookies…the person I ordered them for specifically was just trying to be kind and get small pieces to others, but they wanted MORE!!! I feel several of the guests will now be ordering from Buttermilk Bakeshop. Last year we tried the Ferrero Roche cake and let me say that was heaven as well. We WILL be back, Buttermilk Bakeshop… for all of our special events in the near future.
Buttermilk Bakeshop made the cake for my baby shower and it was the highlight of the party. We had a short conversation over email about what I was looking for and I sent them the invitation for inspiration and they created a true work of art. Even more importantly, it was delicious! Everyone commented on how it tasted as great as it looked, and I’m so glad I still have some in my fridge. Will definitely use them the next time I need a cake!
We asked for a custom cake for our daughter's 1st birthday and shared a picture of what I was looking for. They did such an amazing job! The inside was a rainbow cake and perfect for our sun themed party.

Stopped by on recommendation from local mom we met in neighborhood. We are visiting daughter and son-in-law and twin now grandsons about to turn 1 yo. We got a small cute cake and didn’t think it would be big enough to add any personal message. Very nice guy waiting on us said he could put anything we wanted on it. They did a fantastic job in just a few minutes while we waited. We were all very pleased, especially Mom And Dad of the boys. Thank you. We also got a variety of various cookies and brownies that were excellent.
We ordered The Rocher: Chocolate cake, hazelnut buttercream, and drizzled ganache for our wedding cake. Let me tell you… the floral decorations were amazing and several guests came up to us to ask what was the flavor of the cake and where did we get it from. It was so good! The hazelnut buttercream made all the difference. We knew we wanted some type of chocolate cake and through the recommendation of Buttermilk Bakeshop, we decided on the Rocher. So happy we decided on getting our cake with Buttermilk Bakery!

Your team provided great quality items.Review: I chose this bakery because I wanted to purchase from a shop that had a clear and organized website. I was drawn by their variety in birthday cakes. Wow, I never had a dessert before that was just the right amount of sweet. Even the icing wasn’t overpowering in sweetness. If you don’t like dry cake this place is for you, it has a good amount of moisture. If you do decide on this cake and have OCD be mindful the top layer of chocolate is hard so it is noticeable when candles and toppers pierce through, but I didn’t mind. My daughter’s birthday guests all gave compliments to my choice in dessert. Will purchase from them again!
My favorite bakery in NYC - their cakes/cupcakes are perfection and you won’t find a better cookie! They are my go-to for my kids’ birthday cakes and always do an amazing job, it’s not always easy to find a cake that tastes as good as it looks! The taco cake they made for my son’s taco Twosday party has been my favorite ;) Love them.
