A relatively long day drinking session which started from Vernon Blvd ended at Bunna Cafe.. and one thing that stood out in-spite of all that binge drinking was the amazing and delicious food that we consumed (or inhaled) within 20 minutes of us being served with a delicious platter of Ethiopian delicacies listed on their menu.We washed off all that delicious food with a nice pint of their delicious Ethiopian beer priced at $6. The place is spacious, had a decent enough restroom, and service was absolutely excellent. Will definitely visit again when we feel for some fine Ethiopian food!
A wonderful restaurant for vegans and meat-eaters alike, I took my family here when they were visiting from out of town and no one complained a bit about the entirely plant-based menu. The restaurant often has a live DJ and makes everyone feel at home.
We were appealed by their great reviews and decided to give Ethiopian cuisine a try. Bunna cafe serves plant-based authentic feast and traditional coffee. Bunna means “coffee” in Ethiopian, so it’s definitely a must try.The option on menu is limited, but we are not familiar with Ethiopian food so we still had a hard time making up our decisions. The staff was friendly and explained everything in details. We got a Feast for 2 Combo and a cup of iced coffee.Their food was overall decent and the coffee was pretty strong. The staff recommended to use hand, as their authentic way, to enjoy our dish but we gave up and switched to fork half way. Our favorites were the flavorful Kale Salad and creamy Lentil Sambusa.
Loved it! Got the feast for 3 with extra injera and it was more than enough for 5 people. Loved the variety of flavors and textures and I didn't even realize it was vegetarian (vegan??) until a friend later told me. Would definitely go back. Service was okay.
Stumbled upon this place very randomly. Decided one Monday night that I would give it a try. I’ve had Ethiopian food before and was really interested to see what plant based/vegan dishes would account to. I knew they wouldn’t miss with flavor… they didn’t! I never had cachaca until I was able to try the calpirinha( probably not spelled right ??♀️). Just know I left content and filled with an array of spices and flavor. Despite all the amazing flavor I would have loved better service. There was only one guy waiting on all the tables. The experience would have been a 5 star. Another random dinner night is in the near future.
Great tasting food, great drinks and awesome service, I would recommend this place to anyone, I will be returning soon.
Great spot for vegetarian Ethiopian cuisine--sample all the different dishes with the "feast" for two or three. No reservations required and the waiters are not at all pushy. Be warned however this place turns into a loud nightclub around 7pm on Fridays and Sundays. We were seated right under the speaker and couldn't wait to leave after the atmosphere changed.
Weekday dine-in lunch review: oh my gosh, what delicious food!! The Lentil sambusa appetizer was so fresh. We ordered the lunch special, all the dishes were fabulous but the kale was a real standout. And the coffee baklava was the perfect end to a phenomenal meal. Service was great as well. We’ll definitely return!
Dinner out with friends; staff were very accommodating and super friendly. Place had a great vibe with DJ playing music. The food was super delicious... definitely a place to return to or order from.
cute place. nice ambiance. why think about what to get. get the Feast for 2 which gives you a taste of all 9 dishes. it was so good and filling. I would go back if it wasn't so far from Jersey. we were in the area so thought it would be the perfect place to eat. hope to make it back someday
