The place is rather small, but the portion and the taste are satisfactory. Most entries can easily feed an adult. We also ordered a slightly expensive but really awesome Mix Appetizer. I think the pancake desert is also impressive, but the strong flavor might not for everyone's tastebuds.
Cosy and charming Brooklyn Thai restaurant! The Khao Kook Capi Boran was fabulous. It's fried rice, but that doesn't give a real sense of the rich mix of flavors, colors and textures in this dish. Paired with the Massaman Curry, it was a wonderful, warming experience. I also recommend the Maing Pla Too, little lettuce cups with noodles and mackerel. Would love to visit again sometime.
Great place to get Thai food and if you aren’t familiar with what you want ask for recommendations.
Great food and service…..
Authentic Thai food found in Brooklyn! Love everything here. We ordered all of this for 4 people and could barely finish everything. The appetizer platter is so worth it! The lettuce wrap is spicy but so good!!! I think that was the star of the show. Fish was good but it did get cold pretty fast by the time it hit our table. Tom yum soup was a generous portion. Service was good and must have the Thai tea!
I had great food with my friend and it was amazing! Big share and great services. It’s definitely one of the best Thai food in NYC. It’s in a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn and there are some other things to explore too. I will definitely come for the next time.
my favorite thai food. the veg dishes i’ve had have been on the sweeter side but the flavors here are deep and rich. come here for brighten-your-whole-day type meals :-) the curry puffs and panang curry are excellent. and i wish i had tried the seitan of thai sooner. the staff are so friendly too!
Well if this isn’t the coolest presentation of Thai food I’ve ever had in NYC. For starters, the Pad Thai Boran comes wrapped in an egg pillow blanket. How cozy is that. The pad Thai itself is not too sweet and has a peppery kick. It comes presented on a big banana leaf with peanuts, crunchy chili, green onion, bean sprout, and lime which you can add to taste. Unlike a lot of pad Thai it is not homogenous - every bite has new flavors. The egg pillow is really fun to cut into. We also got the tapioca pork dumplings which are like a savory mochi filled with crumbly sweet porky oniony goodness served two by two in big spoons with cilantro and lettuce. What a memorable appetizer. Our second entree was the green curry with rice noodle, presented in an unusual (for me) do it yourself way with nests of rice noodle spoiled on the side of the mcurry, as well as a soft boiled egg, bean sprout, and pickled greens. This was all fun and interactive to dip into the curry. Again, pleasantly non-homogenous bites. I really loved dipping a whole noodle nest into the curry and eating it all in one bite. This food is fresh, delicious, different than you’re used to, and really fun to eat. The outdoor seating, even though it was raining outside, is beautiful and cozy. Looking forward to trying other dishes here soon!
The Thai food here was really great - can’t wait to go back! The coconut green curry was absolutely delicious - has coconut in it and even comes in a coconut! How cute ?
By far the best Thai in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill. Isan / northern Thai style fare. I'm rather unimpressed by other Thai restaurants in the area -or in NYC generally actually- but Boran really stands out. 5 stars!
