Get the cacio e pepe and chrysanthemum salad. Food delicious, restaurant very loud and expensive though.
The rainbow trout, impossible and haunting, swims on in our dreams.
Wontons in brodo! Get it! MSG martini is a treat!
Easily one of my favorite restos in Williamsburg. Friendly crew, *unreal* dishes, and great cocktails, all in a very lively space. Some personal faves: x.o. cheung fun, cha siu mcrib, dao gok, and hup to ha (as for cocktails, it’s the black tea penicillin)
Bonnie’s serves up comforting and inventive Cantonese American fare in a hip and lively setting. We showed up 15 minutes before opening and were able to get seated right away at the bar. If you’re unable to show up early or on a weekday, try to make a reservation ahead of time or expect a wait. While all the dishes we had were excellent, two of them stood out as exceptional.First, the chrysanthemum salad was bright and fresh, with a perfect balance of bitter greens offset by a creamy and savory soy and sesame dressing. Finally, the seared rice noodles were crisp and packed with deep umami flavor, and the bean sprouts and chives served as a refreshing counterpoint. The contrast in texture between the chewy interior and the crispy exterior of the made for a varied and satisfying eating experience. The cocktails at Bonnie’s are also unique and delicious. The skilled bartenders make use of a variety of Chinese ingredients like Xiaoxing wine in place of vermouth in the MSG martini and Ming River Baiju in the house Negroni.Overall, Bonnie’s was a delightful dining experience and I look forward to seeing what new dishes this talented team comes up with in the future.
Very busy restaurant, all booked up for months, in order to eat last night, we went there at 4pm , line up for 5pm .This is a new way cook for Chinese food, steaming eggs w claim, (this is very NEW way to cook this disk w claim), but source was salty.Noodle dish have the smokies favori,, have a little bit spicy, and salty as well. The last dish, we order fire ? fish, the inside bones and fish meats had been take it all out, (and crumble it), then put it back. It is also salty to me.The serving between each dishes dragged too long, it make me loose my appetite ?. They maybe too busy, service was so so.Drink ate excellent.
really excellent cantonese food with a creative twist… the mcrib is an absolute must… so delicious and loved the milk bun. the drinks were very good… we also loved the stir fry rice noodles. the beef chow menu was a little unexpected because it’s not the lo mein you expect, but a crunchy noodle. regardless, it was very tasty. the walnut shrimp was also delicious and perfectly cooked. our drinks were good- but the non-alcoholic drinks were actually even better… the iced tea is amazing. i would 10/10 recommend bonnie’s- get there a little early (4:45) to get a table if you don’t have a reservation.
Hospitality, cocktails and the food 5 stars! The long beans are a MUST with those little donut-like pieces soaking up the butter sauce WOW. Seared rice rolls (think toasted gnocchi quite heavy, super delicious) + crispy squid (how can you go wrong) were favorites too. Cacio e pepe and mcRib good but nothing memorable besides the pillowy milk bun. Black tea penicillin cocktail was perfect. Happy to have this in the neighborhood!!
If you’re not having their legendary Cha Siu McRib, you are missing out on life. Wait until you get to the fatty part of it. That’ll send you up to the heavens!
cacio e pepe & wonton soup!
