Best bahn mi I've ever had outside of Vietnam. Definitely best in the five boros!
The Viet Sandwiches are fresh and good amount of meats. Its good value food located in the further end of 8th Ave Chinatown near 42St Brooklyn.
Worse Banh Mi sandwich I've ever ate. Pate had a dry texture and they use some kind of watery Mayonnaise instead of lard. And the bread was TOO hard! (At least make it hard on the outside and soft on the inside, but no it's hard through and through) In California, every Vietnamese sandwich shop uses lard! FYI, 7 of the 10 largest Vietnamese populated cities in America are located in California so we know how to do our sandwiches right.
The sandwich #1 is very recommended. I’ve been eating it for few years. The only problem of this store is most of the time if you have anything you don’t want on your sandwich. You tell them but they forgets. Almost all the time.
I’ve eaten a fair number of banh mi sandwiches across Vietnam, and at most of the decent shops in NYC…and I can confidently say that Ba Xuyen wins for the best and most authentic banh mi sandwich in all of NYC. It is very much worth the trip to Sunset Park, and is a must have if you’re in the neighborhood. The baguettes that they use for the sandwiches are just heavenly fresh and crispy - so good that they retain their freshness for the next 1-2 days (so I’ll buy a few sandwiches to eat as my lunch the next day). The price can’t be beat — most sandwiches run from $6-7 each, and they are generous with portions and use fresh ingredients. I highly recommend #1 for the classic combination banh mi sandwich, and my wife loves #9 for the grilled chicken banh mi. The shop is very unassuming and the ladies preparing sandwiches behind the window are brisk but friendly, and they speak English. Tip them well and keep supporting this local gem. Businesses like these are what make NYC the greatest city to live in.
Great sandwiches, they also have rice and some other dishes. I recommend the sandwiches the most and the spring roll. The rices are just okay as the pork or chicken is kind of dry.
The avocado shakes here are ridiculously good!!
Definitely the best Bahn mi I've had in New York, which is really saying something. The sandwiches are pretty cheap and filling. I've had both the #1 and the shredded chicken, both of which were great. Highly recommend!
One of the best banh mi places in Brooklyn. Definitely try the chicken one !
Wow. This was a great bahn mi sandwich. I got the #1 which is mixed pork (roast, bacon, etc). Super delicious. Also got a Vietnamese style coffee. So tasty and ate it with an amazing view in sunset park.
