They just lost a loyal customer who will stop patronizing and recommending this place. As they told me frankly, go right ahead!!!!! My business meant nothing to them.

Great little gem. Definitely order the watermelon margarita. It's refreshing and delicious. They make their guacamole fresh. I ordered the burrito with steak. Every bite was flavorful. The place is small and gets packed. The service is great. Real authentic Mexican food. Looking forward to coming again real soon
We have been living in the neighborhood for years and have been loyal to this place just as long.. but unfortunately will have to stop ordering from there due to a recent unpleasant delivery/takeout experience. Essentially, the guy told us: “we only comp the meal when it is our mistake.” He either forgot that customer is always right or just bad business!
I ordered an early dinner tonight from Metate. I'm very busy with work lately, so I appreciated the staff's diligence to make sure my food came out as soon as possible. It seemed to be the gentleman behind the bar that made it happen. The enchiladas suizas was delicious! Big portion too... I can have it later or tomorrow for lunch. I've lived in Riverdale for 8 years... how am I just trying Metate for the first time!? I won't make that mistake again. Need to go back and see what the happy hour is all about.
This place is pretty great. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. The happy hour prices are great and the drinks come out extremely well made. As for the food, immaculately made. We had the pork chops and the torta (pork) came out hot, expertly plated, and tasty. This place is a must-visit. I usually frequent one in the Yonkers area, but their kitchen is smaller. The quality of food is the same, but the added bonus of seating and great atmosphere is valuable. Would come again and will bring others.

Found this little place in Riverdale. Great Tamarind Margaritas, fresh Guacamole. had the Tostones with Chorizo, Tostones were great but it needs some mojo, as the chorizo was dried. My steak with rice and onions was actually made medium rare and it was delicious. The Enchilada Mole was really good. The Chicken Taco Salad, the chicken was good, but the salad had too much oil at the bottom. The Churros was really good. it just needed more chocolate as a dip.
My friend is gluten intolerant, so very picky about where she eats. We found a lovely table outdoors at this restaurant, and they were very patient and kind in explaining which foods she could have. The margaritas were absolutely delicious, as was the Mexican food we chose. I had the three fish tacos and hard shell and they were very full of fish, unlike some restaurants which are quite skimpy. Since we got there before 7 PM the margaritas were on special for happy hour. It was a lovely evening.
