Old school in every way, meaning, good service, good food, personable staff and a great value.
Took over 2 hours to get food. Never in 50 years of going here has the service been so slow. Had to ask waiter where our food was over 8 times. Owner complained of rush after the Yankee game as if that has happened for the past 100 years. Owner complained of extra patrons because of outdoor patio. So limit reservations to what your kitchen can handle. No excuse. Gave me a lemincello as it that was worth 2 hours of sitting there waiting for dinner.
Food was good. Decor a little outdated but service was good.
The place was overrated, have had much better italian food elsewhere. Salad had too much dressing and too tart and Veal was tough, not tender. i like Veal that you can cut with a fork, would not return and the price was high.
Been going to Marioâs since the 1950âs. It is always superb. The food and service were terrific and bring back the best memories of a bygone era.
We had never been up to Arthur Avenue and decided to make an outing up to Marioâs. We werenât disappointed- the food was delicious- the red sauce has a lot of depth-and the service was impeccable. How good was it? About a third of diners had come from the Yankeesâ shut-out game. But nobody was complaining - everyone was enjoying a great Italian meal together. Thank you, Marioâs!
Best food and service. Nicest owner.
Another great dinner / experience at Marioâs.
I really wanted to love this place. The waiter was fabulous, attentive. We arrived at about 5pm so it wasn't crowded. They immediately got us water and bread with a nice dish of pickled carrots. The calamari was fresh and the burrata was very fresh and tasty. My family liked their food, veal scalloppini and rigatoni with vodka sauce. I had chicken parmesan, which was a little dry. The sauce was thick and a little too much like paste. And the cheese was a smaller slice of mozzarella that did not cover the chicken. I would have liked to have had a thicker cut of chicken so it retained a bit of moisture. And the sauce needed to be a bit saucier. And if you are getting parmesan, the cheese needs to cover the chicken completely. Again, I really wanted to love this place, but I just liked it.
Always a delicious meal with friendly staff
