One of the best Italian restaurants in the south Bronx. Food is always fresh and delicious. Service is quick. I love their chicken parmesan heroes but they have so many great dishes. Chicken marsala and shrimp scampi are a few I've tried and loved. They also have some great cocktails. I always look forward to eating here.

Giovanni is my go-to place for a great lunch or early night dinner. The atmosphere is great and calming. The waiters/waitresses are very engaging and professional. I love to treat my out-of-town of guests to Giovanni's. I have been coming here since 2007 and have never been disappointed.

It was the right place at the right time. We found parking at the door on the side street; when we entered we were pleasantly surprised. The environment downstairs was comfortable. We had a tasty Farfalle w pesto, chicken and sundried tomatoes and a baked ziti w meatball and ricotta cheese. Our server and staff were very nice and polite. We did not wait long for our food.

I would advise NOT to go here.I was completely dissatisfied and disappointed in the service here at Giovanni. We went downstairs to dine in. We were not seated and I asked the bus boy do we just pick a seat he uncaringly said “yeah”. We sat there for a little while unattended so I got up and got the menu myself (assuming the ignoring attitude of the staff is because they’re short staff, sooo ok). My friend and I sat there about 10 minutes and were not addressed. We made eye contact with the waiters that were congregating on the side and she stopped talking to her co-worker and walked past us without acknowledging us EVEN though we said in a friendly voice “we’re ready”. She eventually came to our table took our order and brought us bread and oil. We sat there an additional 20 minutes without drink or our order. So here’s where things go waaaaay LEFT! Two Caucasians come in, they were immediately seated, given a menu, and poured water. Then the waiter went back to the bartender area to make their drink! I could NOT in good conscience continue to sit there and spend more time and/ or eventually my money. My money is green just as well as theirs. Before I left I wanted to communicate this to the manager. He was dismissive stating he’s sorry it seemed that way…. Seemed that way??? Really? I explained to him; sir, our money is green just as well as theirs is and we should be respected as well and treated just the same. I would advise NOT to go there if the hand that gives them the green money has melanin.P.S. oh I have to add there was an eyelash on my bread.

I ordered an eggplant parmigiana hero and a ginger ale that cost $20. The sandwich was aight but not for $20. That was a rip off.

I was in the mood for my Italian in the Bronx so I went to Giovanni’s for takeout. I had cheese tortellini with chicken. It was a bit pricey, but I enjoyed nonetheless. I do wish they gave a bit more pasta for the cost.

I placed an order and it came up to almost $100.00, then a separate charge of $10 was added because to add chicken, was listed as $10, but I called after viewing an additional $10 charge to my account and was informed that it was $20.00 to add chicken...really? There were literally only about 10 strips of chicken from 1 cut up chicken breast in the tray of pasta anyway. The supervisor was unhelpful, but I will NEVER patron this establishment again.

it said it close at 10 but online it say clothes at a different times. I told the waitier to put my drink in and 15mins later she come back saying my manager said I can't do it. I would never go back to this place. As soon as you walk in they look at you differently.

I placed my order at 11:28 this morning, as I followed the recommended delivery time stated by Slice of 60-75 minutes. Our lunch period begins at 12:25 and I knew there was a chance that our order could come as late as 12:45. As soon as I received an alert that our order was coming after 1pm, I called the restaurant and pleaded for them to hurry our order so that students were not left hungry as I ordered for them. At 11:45 am, the woman at Giovanni's assured me that we would get our delivery by 12:30. At 12:47, I called the restaurant again and was told the order was already on the way and would arrive in a few minutes. At 1:17 I called slice, as instructed because I didn't receive my order. The rep called the restaurant twice, and was assured that the order was coming in 20 minutes, and then just 5. I was refunded only $10 and still had no pizza for hungry students. Once the pizza did come, it was lukewarm at best, and the quality is not what I have grown to expect from Giovanni's. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use slice nor order from Giovanni's if they are hungry or happen to need food within a two hour period. We finally received the pizzas (we only ordered 2, and nothing special on either) at 1:38pm. 130 minutes after I ordered.

First non chain Italian restaurant, I've been to, and it didn't disappoint. Food was delicious. The atmosphere was great, and quiet. It's funny, because it offers services like a deli, but yet it's a great spot for a dine in date, with exceptional great tasting food. Good place overall.
