Hands down most delicious food, incredibly friendly service and just overall sense of community when you walk in!
City Tamale with no Tamales.Went there today to bring home some tamales. Mind you, this is at 1:30 in the afternoon, To my surprise, they were out of all of them except Chicken( which was fair at best). They also ran out of corn toppings. Is it too much to ask a tamale named restaurant to have Tamales in stock?. This is like McDonalds running out of burgers. The nice young man at the counter was apologetic( hence the one star), said there was some event, which is no excuse, they should be prepared for that. If you still want to get tamales here, Call beforehand as they always run out( apparently even at lunchtime). Also , parking is horrible, They should change the name to “ No City Tamales)
Food is good. Tamales are too expensive, and please do not buy the banana nut muffin ?. But overall good experience- staff is friendly
Very good tamales. The rajas was flavorful and spicy, with peppers and onions and extremely tasty, but the tamal was a bit too soft and the mass was runny. We also tried the puerco which was also very good. They aren't very big and $4.00 each is not so cheap, but they are very tasty and I will be back.
*Edited Review*I had placed an order for 24 tamales. When I arrived home I was short 10 tamales. It was Christmas Eve and I was obviously very upset.I reached out to management and they were truly sorry for the mistake.They even offered to bring me tamales the next morning! I will say, it’s one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Thank you so much City Tamale. Best Tamale in NYC!!

This place is soooo gooood. Best food, a gem in Hunts Point. For breakfast or lunch. All I tried was delicious. Tamales, tacos, soup, muffins, fresh juices. Amazing.
Their tamales are super good, I just wish they deliver because my orders get canceled :(
