1st time but definitely not my last. Finally got there and “The Harold” was delicious. Everything fresh - chicken wasn’t dry - bacon nice & thick. Do not change what comes on this. My son is a picky eater and loved the meatball hero. The place was super clean and friendly.Week later took the wife and son for dinner. Again! - Food was off the hook and since dinner - we got the house chips and these were not from a bag and the jalapeño poppers with sriracha sauce on the side or without sauce I could eat til I explode. Both are A must try! Had the meathead - roast beef was perfect. Next time the Bro. Tommy and the rest of the staff friendly and again the place was clean.
Oh my goodness, The Hero Joint in Bay Shore is amazing! We have ordered sandwiches from them before and have never been disappointed. We just recently used them to cater our son’s HS Graduation party. They were so incredibly awesome! I can not say enough good things about them. They were patient and extremely helpful, especially when it came to all of the food allergies we have. They went above and beyond to make sure every one would be able to enjoy their food and have something to eat! They even custom made the macaroni salad for our food allergies! We ordered all 3 foot hero’s (as we didn’t want anything longer due to transportation and lifting issues), The Balsamic Bird, The Bro, The Meathead, and a custom made Chicken Cutlet with Cheddar and Bacon. Everything was absolutely made fresh and delicious. All of our guests raved about the food. The bread was not hard, tough, or chewy, even our elderly denture wearing guests had absolutely NO issues eating the entire sandwich! In fact they had several tastings of the variety of sandwiches! We can not thank The Hero Joint enough for their delicious food and their amazing service! We will definitely be using them for our future events!

So we just tried The Hero Joint for the first time and I must say, this place is INSANELY GOOD. Like some of the best heroes we've had in a very long time (and that's saying something living on Long Island). Their homemade chips and fries are incredible as well. We were instantly welcomed and were given excellent suggestions on what to order. You must stop in! This will be our new go to for sure.
I wanted to like this place, but food doesn't make up for the high prices. It shouldn't cost 66 dollars for 2 sandwiches, 2 beers and 2 sides of chips. I understand with inflation that costs go up, but there's a line. I got the roast beef on a garlic hero and the roast beef wasn't sliced, it was ground up. Not a fan, bad advertising IMO. Staff was friendly, but doesn't make up for the cost
Tommy is great. Always a friendly smile and hello…. And the food, delicious. Freshest cold cuts made in house. If you’re hungry this is the sandwich spot
I had the bro, it was a cold cut Italian sandwich and it was really good. everything that went into the sandwich was perfect, all the meats, the cheese and especially the bread. Spent less than $20 for the large, but its two meals.
A friend highly recommended this place, but I think the food is just ok. Service is good though. Don't like the grilled cheese, as it's too thick, way too much cheese. When the indoor mask mandate resumed in December, I was curious which businesses would comply. They did put the sign up and I saw some masks, but the sign was quickly removed, and the employees were either not wearing masks, or they were pulled down.
Owner is always very friendly and helpful. Always greeted right away. Food is good, but could be cheaper. Wish they offered more vegetarian options, like a potato and egg hero. Got a sandwich recently, and was charged extra for customized items, but nothing I added was extra. Company hasn't enforced the indoor mask mandate, as the employees were walking around without masks. And we know the vaccinated are getting COVID as well. I know the indoor mask mandate supposed to be ending, but anything could change. I take this virus seriously, as my cousin just passed of COVID.
Got a grilled cheese. FIRE. Perfectly cheesy. absolute FIRE. Thick slices of bread with nice crunch from the griddle but still soft and delicious. You will not be disappointed.Nice shop. Great staff. Will be back regularly.
