We finally got here for dinner and were not as impressed as we had hoped. The view and ambiance are exceptional. The food and service were just ok. There is a small menu with limited items. The night we were there, they were out of sea bass and substituted with snapper. The snapper was dry. Three people in the party ordered the pork chop dish with different temperatures, but they were all served at the same temperature and the requests were not honored. After taking our entree order, we didn't see our server til the dinner was delivered to the table. We were never served water, asked if wanted a second round of cocktails or given a bread basket.
Best restaurant on Fire Island. Chris P, The Bartender was the best.
End of season. Not a great selection of food.
I’ve been coming to Fair Harbor for 30 yearsThis incarnation of Le Dock is terrible! Bad food-no other way to put it. The Greek salad was a soggy mess, The monk fish overdone and tasteless. I went in early July and have not heard anything positive about this placeHoping for a change next year.
I am responding to the post by Kiyoko Fuchimoto a few days ago. While mistakes are inevitably made at times in the kitchen or by a server, I assure you that your dinner service was not delayed because you are not white. We do our best to give each and every guest at our restaurant the same great food with attentive, professional service, hoping that they leave our establishment with the feeling lie they cannot wait to return for their next dinner. I apologize that you did not have that same experience and can assure you that the server who helped you that evening (partner's son), is one of the nicest and most decent young men I've ever known.
Food is very good and prices are high. The food is very fresh and well-done. We had a lobster taco, a burger, a salad, a zuppa de pesce and a shortcake desert. Everything was good.
For over 20 years I have been summering in Fair Harbor and an evenings out at Le Dock were always a.highlight. Not this summer there is no pride left in the food served from the preparation to the plating. The Staff is always stellar but what was bought to our table and the prices charged are an embarrassment to a favorite spot. We ordered calamari that was not fresh and tasted prepackaged with only oversized circles. The presentation was poorly executed for an $18 appetizer that looked like a frozen appetizer from Cosrco. Then came the entrees that were even more disappointing. For $37 we were served lobster tacos that had no flavor it was frozen chopped up lobster sautéed in butter and place on premaid coleslaw that tasted like it came out of a tub. Ok so tacos were sad but for $37 maybe you would think there would be some delicious homemade salsa and/or guacamole nope just a sad tiny dish of black bean straight out of a can. I have eaten tacos a 5 star restaurants and from taco trucks and none have compared to the lack of pride put into these. We had 2 orders and our other friend had fried chicken. Another dish that is fairly simple and doesn’t take a lot of effort to put out with a great presentation. You can even steal a foodnetwork recipe worse case scenario. Not here to rubbery chicken breast with what may have been the batter used for fish and chips plopped on a pile of mashed potatoes. Ok the potatoes probably were the best but the bar is so low do mot get excited about them. In a town filled with New Yorkers why would you not put more effort. If you want to serve Applebees style food then the prices should reflect that. I feel sorry for the staff. You are better off getting mediocre pizza from next store or wait till the morning and order breakfast from the young girls at Unfriendly who put a lot of care into their service and the food they make.
We visited here on a rainy non crowded evening. The waitress did politely inform us it was her first night so we anticipated a bit of a wait. There were only a few tables there and unfortunately from the long wait for our waitress and long wait for food, it was not worth it. My husband got the fried organic chicken which was dry and cooked and I got a horiatiki salad which was just meh at best. My son certainly got the best dish which was the penne alla vodka with chicken, great sauce but again chicken was overcooked and dry. For what we paid for each of our meals (penne vodka was a whopping 40.00, insert eye roll) it was not worth the value and quality. I never mind paying for highly priced meals, but this was certainly not the case. On a positive note we passed here several times thereafter (only restaurant to eat in Fair Harbor) and it is extremely cowered. So get there early, anticipate a wait and long service, but it does have beautiful outdoor seating overlooking the bay and inside has a great ambiance. As long as you don’t mind paying for extremely expensive food which is average at best, this is your place.
We got the table at 7:30pm and didn't get food until 9pm. The party who came 45 min after us was getting their food 5 min after us. The waiter was nice but he was so slow and forgot everything we asked him. When we arrived, no one came for 15 min. I had to walk up to the host to get a waiter. I wonder they did that on purpose because we are not white which is the majority of the guests there. We kept on asking for food but food didnt come for 1.5 hrs. Is it possible that they were really busy and backed up? I didn't see anyone else complaining. It's expensive but The food is great and we were looking forward to going back there. But We really regretted going back there last night. It was a rather sad experience....
Stopped here with friends before heading out.
