Amazing food, beautiful restaurant and the owner/chef Natalie makes you feel at home! The jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, rice & peas were all too good to describe! Our new favorite place — see you next week!?
If I could give a 0 star I would . Introduce my husband to their food he loves the fry chicken. Their customer service is very poor . You look them up both on google and Uber eats it say that their open 12:30 but when you show up or call they said they open at 3pm . Anyone barely answers the phone and their answering machine even wrong . They need to update their answering machine and their website . Call 1 day and show up when they were suppose to open they were not and when I call 1 of the owner said he can’t squeeze blood and give me not that I asked him to. They always say support black restaurants but with this kind of attitude how can you . I live 35 minutes away from them gave them chances over and over but they just too rude
Our search for a locally owned, cozy Caribbean sit down restaurant, led us to Coalhouse Grill. Upon entry we were met with a warm environment, richly reminiscent of dark wood furniture and accessories found in Jamaican homes. In abundance, the walls are dressed with whimsical signage on rustic wood. My personal measure of a thoughtful restaurateur is the restroom. Here, proprietors Nathalie and Patrick made a space that feels like home. We ordered Hennessy wings, Braised oxtail and escovitch snapper. One in our party is lactose intolerant. Nathalie visited us to confirm the preparation of our meal. If one is familiar with this issue, a visit from the chef is comforting. The wings were a full flavored treat. My wife enjoyed the robust oxtail. My snapper was a delicate balance of crispy tender fish, black pepper, salt, pimento and scotch bonnet pepper. Service was satisfactory. This lovely spot will be a treat for foodies. Next time I will order Wicked Delicious Bred Puddin! See you soon.....
My order of oxtails was beyond delicious. It was tender, well seasoned and generously portioned. The rice and cabbage were delicious as well. The pineapple ginger juice was a great compliment to the meal. The juice was thick and not watered down at all. Well worth the price.
Discovered this gem on happycow..was originally going to order through Uber but delivery time was a bit long.I'm soo glad I went in. The restaurant is intimate and cozy with earthtone, calming colors and uplifting word art. The customer service was great. Now, let's cut to the food review. Oh my all the Vegan selections were delightfully tasty. I ordered the vegan jerk chicken, sautéed cabbage and vegan Marly pasta with vegan citrus chicken. The flavors are definitely on point‼️ i highly recommend visiting if your in the area of Baldwin, Long Island.
The food is always done to order, it’s not just a Jamaican restaurant. It’s the real deal for sure
Fantastic, authentic Jamaican cuisine with hands-on customer service?
The best food you'll ever taste!
I don’t usually do food/restaurant reviews, but I could not pass up the opportunity to review the Coal House Grill. Firstly, the restaurant is very clean and tastefully decorated. Secondly, I’m vegan, and it is extremely difficult to find vegan food, and even more difficult to find vegan food that tastes good and has a nice texture. All the dishes I’ve tried from the vegan jerk chicken wings to the vegan citrus mango chicken and dumplings, had so much good flavor . I’ve been getting take out every Tuesday for almost two months since I discovered the restaurant had vegan options. The staff is very friendly, especially Natalie (who I believe is one of the owners). Thank you so much for doing vegan right, from your #1 vegan customer, Sheryll.
Went tonthis place on a whim. Walked in decor was clean and inviting. Bathroom clean and stocked. Service was fantastic. Then the food came. I had oxtail. It was amazing. Very rich in flavors and satisfying. I will be back with friends and family. If you're thinking about it make sure you stop in.
