Great Greek place in the heart of Astoria. Grilled octopus was awesome as was the grilled calamari. Lamb chops were good... A bit over done. Order 1 grade down. If you like med order med rare. Dessert was outstanding. Very attentive staff.

Stamatis used to be a great place to eat in Astoria. Not anymore. I consider myself a regular and the last few times we went the quality and quantity has gone down and the prices up. The last time we went I had the baby lamb. At $33 it was probably $8 a bite. Thin, salty and gone in 60 seconds. Plus they served it with lemon potatoes that looked more like oily mashed potatoes. The cod looked thick and rich but it was only a very thin layer of fish and the rest was batter. The calamari at $16 was not enough even for an appetizer. We also had fried zucchini and eggplant. Again, it used to be a nice platter not it’s just a small plate with just 3-4 small pieces each. Very disappointed with Stamatis. The search is on for a better restaurant.

1000% authentic....so much flavour....such great service....huge portions....great value....I can't praise this place enough!!!

My sister's in law and myself went to the restaurant over the weekend. It was very noisy and messy, the tables and chairs were old, out of the window you could see a massive fallen tree into the attached building. We ordered roast chicken / roast lamb with potatoes. The food looked horrible, the potatoes were almost whole in the plate and burned or not cooked in places, the meat was burned, dry and tasteless. They forgot to bring the ordered drink for my sister in law and didn't give me a glass for my coke. Furthermore, I thought the staff was rude as they came many times and asked us if we were ready to go, starting only a couple of minutes after they put the plates on the table. The food was expensive too. Don't waste your money and time there!

We had an enjoyable and very good meal of Greek comfort food. Our server, newly arrived from Greece, was very good; knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We ordered too much and took home most of it! Toasted, buttered bread was brought automatically but Dimitri ate the Koulouri that we had bought at a tiny shop. We started with an avgolemono soup ($4.50) that was really good and had pieces of chicken in it. We had a ½ order of stuffed pepper with meat and rice (one whole pepper). It was delicious, with a hint of cinnamon. The ½ order of bamias was also delicious and large. We had one order of moussaka ($16.50), one order of Imam eggplant ($11.95) and ½ carafe of their house red. For dessert, we were brought a complimentary ghalatobouriko that we bought thought was very good. We were very happy when we left and had spent $65.28 plus tip.

I was visiting friends this weekend, who happened to be Greek. They are very familiar with Astoria and the many Greek restaurants there. We ordered four appetizers to share - a med Greek salad, spanakopita, fried eggplant and eggplant dip with pita tips. The servings were plentiful that we didn’t need to order dinner. The management also serves a delicious custard type dessert, on the house. By far best Greek food I’ve ever had!

?GREEK FOOD IN ASTORIA, Queens ny - @Stamatis.Restaurant / @stamatis.restaurant.astoria?Wanted to explore more of Astoria while we stayed in long island city. This area is known for its Greek community, eaters, and cafes. Super walkable neighborhood and there are two main busy streets we have foundAfter a bit of wandering, we wanted outdoor seating and found Stamatis on the Google map with great reviews. I do have to say, I felt a bit out of place going into this restaurant as we were the only Asians ??or even anyone other than GreekThat's how legit this place was!The server was really nice and helped us navigate through their huge menu, recommended a few items:?Grilled octopus?Fresh sea bass?Saganaki (fried cheese)?chicken souvlaki platter with dandelions?Moussaka (egg plant, ground beef, onions, feta, & scallions with besamel cream)I think overall my favorite was the seafood (as usual). Made light with olive oil and herbs, not too heavy. The fried cheese was surprisingly good as it was recommended by the water. Crispy in the outside, melty inside. Thin cut , to be eaten with this red tomato ? pasteInstead of the moussaka we were going to order the Nest. It had a beef stew in it but they ran out of that item. The moussaka was like your hearty lasagna without all the carbs . The eggplants and beef together makes the textures consistent but includes the earthy taste of eggplants. I'm sure they smoked or grilled them ahead of time tooAll in all a great meal! Hope you can wander in there. theres a few really good [email protected]

A VERY DELICIOUS EXPERIENCE. Highly recommend. Grilled octopus, sea bass for two, shrimp and mushrooms - so good!

Always great food and service

Been coming here for the best Grilled octopus for over 15 years & this time it was made different. ☹️ It was cut up & not whole (like it had been in the past) and it had vinegar & was overcooked. Not sure if they changed chefs or recipes, but I was very disappointed. My mom & sister took me there for my birthday & well wasn’t as good as in the past 15 years thats why I gave 4 out of 5 stars. The, zucchini croquettes, salad lamb were very delicious.
