Loved everything about this place!! We ate out back in the garden and it was lovely. Our party of 5 loved all the dishes we ordered. Dont sleep in the cheese curds!
Met for dinner with friends. The rain kept us out of the beautiful garden seating area. Inside the old English pub decor is delightful with comfortable seating. Nice pub-style menu choices. Great beer and wine selections. The Reubens were enormous and prepared to perfection with tasty fries. Very friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. A very nice dining experience worth returning for.
Good beers & cocktails with decent pub food. Try the alcoholic ginger beer selection. Limited seating, outdoor spots available with decent scenery. Try parking in the rear if needed.
The service was great and all but our appetizer of the croquet was cold in the center. I had the steak and frites and my mother had the Rubin sandwich know my steak was medium well done but the steak was a pink more pink then a medium well done should of been. But after finish immediately when we both left the place We felt awful and when I had gotten to the house my mother and I are know having stomach pains and nausea. Will not eat there again.
The Olde English has been my go-to bar for celebrations of any kind for a good 10 years now. While I still miss some things that are no more, The Olde English remains one of my favorite places in the Capital District for a pint and some food. The atmosphere is so cozy, the food is excellent, and the beer selection is so different than anywhere else nearby that it always makes the experience stand out. The garden in summer is lovely, the fire in winter is so comforting. All around an excellent place to go!
Service was fast abs attentive. Drinks were well made. Food is high and pub fare. Good ambience. Nice place for work lunch or low key dinner.
Wow.. once in the doors, you'll think your in a pub in the u underworld of London! The pub burger is of superb quality..and everyone we talked with was friendly and welcoming! Especially Lauren, she made the meal even better.
A decent pub! A little pricey, but what do you expect for a pub in downtown Albany? Great atmosphere and good food, I'll definitely go back.
Had their English breakfast. Absolutely abysmal. Two hard cold eggs, two skinny American link sausages. One strip of American bacon. Canned cold mushrooms and two slices of white toast without butter and some soggy tepid home fries. No real English sausage, no black pudding, no white pudding, no Rashers... four of us in our party had this, we looked at each other and just shook our heads. It was so bad it was almost amusing. Will never return.
We went for brunch on Sunday at 11:00 am. It was very chilly inside despite the fire in the fireplace. Staff seemed preoccupied throughout our meal and the worst part was that they were “out of coffee”! How can you be open for brunch and not have coffee?? I worked in the restaurant business for many yesrs and if you run out of something this important run to the market and get it!! There was only one other table of patrons and we felt ignored by staff, the food was mediocre and when we left we walked by atleast 5 staff members in the bar area who didn’t even bother to say goodbye or thank you. We will not be back!
