It was our first time visit and first time in Albany. The osso buco was by far the best we have ever had. The in house made tagliatelle and lumanche pastas were exceptional.
We hadn't been to Cafe Capriccio for dinner for quite awhile. Don't know why really. We have recently returned from the Cafe's Tuscany Tour and had a blast. Our dinner was superb last night. From the 4-cheese eggplant appetizer to the Ragu Napolitana, we were pleased with them all. I'm glad we got some to take home and enjoy for lunch today! Danielle was a great server and the ambience was great. Thanks to Carli and Franco!!
Delicious from the eggplant with four cheese appetizer to the wonderful dessert selection. Cozy ambiance, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff, very reasonably priced wines and the very best Italian food.

This was at least my 4th or 5th visit to Cafe Capriccio and the first time I was not completely satisfied. Our server seemed indifferent to our tables needs. Bread was offered with out butter. There was oil on the table, one would assume for dipping but no balsamic vinegar to accompany it. Cocktails arrived well after our appetizers. 2 out of our 3 meals were delicious. The sausage with broccoli rabe cooked with red cherry peppers left much to be desired. There is a difference between red pepper flakes and red cherry peppers in a dish. The sausage, thinly sliced, would have amounted to a third of a sausage link in total & that assessment is being generous. The broccoli rabe was an afterthought, wilted and lacking in flavor. The pasta wasnât well drained making the oil water combination unappetizing. Iâve never been to an Italian Restaurant that didnât offer grated cheese with your meal, none on the table setting & none offered. Coffee and desserts were good but IMO $5.00 for a cup of coffee is a bit steep, even in these inflationary times. The ambiance was excellent as usual, old style, fairly quite, non rushed. I hope this was an unusual visit to Cafe Capriccio.
Love this place! Wonderful, imaginative dishes, unique Italian wines, their own beer on tap and homemade cheesecake. Does it really get any better than that? ð
It was a very good meal but it was extremely muggy and uncomfortable in the dining room. It must not have had air conditioning. Too bad because otherwise was a great experience.
I've been going here for over 30 years. It never disappoints.
