I ordered the Yellowtail Ceviche, and it was so spicey hot I was unable to eat it. It was a ceviche, so I did not think it would be hot. They did not mention that it was a hot dish. My husband tasted it; I wanted to check to see if it was me or the dish, and he said he would not be able to eat it. And we like HOT food. I told the waitress, but they did not offer to take the cost off the bill. I simply could not eat it; waste of money and ruined the experience.
Great restaurant, with wonderful food and a ambiance. Server was great, always a great experience.
Zacatlán serves elevated Mexican food from several regions. It's rare that I find this superb of Mexican food that is not "fine dining," as much as I enjoy fine dining. Lamb Barbacoa and Cochinita Pibil were served on the bone, with meat that fell right off, with mole of a quality I have found only in Oaxaca, Mexico. Tortillas were freshly made in house. All of the service was charming and attentive, and Chef Rodriguez made sure our dinner was excellent. The space is charming too - we sat in the "outdoor" area, but it was covered enough that rain didn't disturb. Highly recommended - we will certainly be back.
Outstanding flavors, friendly, welcoming, and prompt service. Really enjoyed the experience. We were seated in the dining room but if the weather is nice check out the patio annex.
Early dinner 8/6/22. Might have been more than a bad night? Wait staff good but need a few tweaks - mostly around service timing. Food generally overwrought - too rich and sauced to taste what weâre otherwise strong ingredients. Some of the flavor pairings were way off - an almost bitter stuffing to an otherwise perfect squash blossom appetizer. A lighter touch on the yellowtail ceviche would have let a good fish shine. The esquites on the bone marrow appi made it almost impossible to taste what was an otherwise well prepared marrow bone. The cochinita pibil was an exception - it had a well-executed sauce, and the meat portion - at least 18oz of meat off the bone - was easily enough for two. Flavor was outstanding. We skipped desert. Hopefully the chef backs off the showiness and lets the basics shine through.
You canât go wrong. But today it was Burrata salad and Sopecitos. Fantastic! And Chef Edwardo is incredible and the epitome of the American dream.
Delicious! Love the outdoor area.
excellent in every way--dishes are interesting and perfectly prepared
Fantastic Mexican food. Service was good, we loved to find them!
Wow! Unbelievable presentation, attentive service, with the taste to back it all up.
