Amazing service by Pedro! Food exquisite!! A must if you are in Santa Fe Thank you!
Service was excellent. The food was average. With a new chef on board, I expected better. Not worth the price.
Power failed. Food was not refined at all. Interior was dirty and needed basic maintenance. Staff seemed overwhelmed.
Our favorite restaurant whenever we visit Santa Fe from Maui. Great service from Kathy and the team of young runners. Always fun to see the local diners. Every dish was perfect. Fresh Peach Gazpacho with Feta and mint. Local Freshies Heirloom tomatoes with Grilled Sourdough. Corn pudding with goats' milk. Grilled pork chop. Roast Diver Scallops. Peach tart with black pepper ice cream. Always a lovely evening and atmosphere. Met some nice people. Best restaurant on Canyon Road and in Santa Fe.
This was our 5th time to dine at The Compound. Our past experiences here set the bar very high. Therefore, our expectations were high. We were very disappointed with our experience this time. We had a subpar waiter, who spent more time in a storage closet than tending tables. He would duck into the closet and stay in there for extended periods of time. Very odd. We shared a lettuce salad, but it looked like it had come out of a bag. I had more wilted leaves than fresh. My entree was very good, I had the chicken breast. It was prepared perfectly, and was very tasty, so that was great. However, my husband ordered the Cod and at first bite he knew something was off. I tried a bite as well and knew the same. Our waiter had only asked how our entrees were immediately after the plates arrived. He did not reappear or take notice that we had ended up sharing the chicken, and had not eaten the Cod. When he did finally emerge from the storage closet again (picture if the closet included, it was in my line of site), he realized the Cod hadn't been touched. We explained it was "off." He was surprised and obviously not well trained in how to handle the situation. We didn't want them to think we were trying to not pay for our dinner, so we did offer to pay and he left things up in the air. When he returned, he did say, "They made me take the fish off", not a professional reply to an issue. A visit from a GM would have been nice. We skipped dessert and left. We had dined in under an hour. We are so disappointed and let down. Also, just a side note, the silverware was tarnished and mismatched. Details matter! If you arenât taking care of the details, there is more being overlooked. I know its hard to find good help in these times, however, you must train your people, and our waiter could have used that as well as some supervision. Historically, we've spent a lot of time and money here and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Especially welcoming ambiance. Inviting menu and extensive wine list. Very much enjoyed the agnolotti with delicious sauce to start and well prepared scallops for main. Impressed with how well my server managed the room as well as my table. All seemed very comfortable with pace and suggestions. Very enjoyable dining experience.
We've waited 7 years to go to the highly vaunted Compound, and finally went for our grown daughter's birthday. We were disappointed. The wedge salad was pretty good, as was the heirloom tomato salad. The chicken schnitzel was tough and chewy and drowned in butter - the only highlight was the lemon slice. And the Compound burger was average at best, easily bested by most any burger joint in town; it's only highlight was the grilled onion slice which was delicious. We left feeling deceived by all the hype...
Best tomatoes omg. Steak was perfect!!
We love The Compound and eat there every time we visit Santa Fe.
Always excellent
