Personally, there is not much to do in Santa Fe except eat and drink. We were looking forward to this craft cocktail bar but what a disappointment. We ordered two drinks that were a quarter full including ice and absolutely no alcohol at all for $15 each. Sucked them down in 2 minutes and got out of there. The music inside was loud and the incense was strong so we sat on the front patio. Sadly homeless people were out front pestering people for money. Not worth it at all. We headed to La Fonda for a much better experience.
If you enjoy incense, this is the bar for you!! We walked in Saturday evening, July 9, 2022, & to our surprise, it was relatively empty for a rainy evening. The plan was to have drinks at the bar, while waiting for our table at Market Steer. My husband took a seat at the bar, unfortunately, I could not. As soon as I walked into the bar, the smell of incense was overpowering!! I am sensitive to smell, so I use my husband as my barometer, he looked at me & said “we can’t stay”. On the bar, the employees had an urn overflowing with 20+ reeds, burning. We went out to the patio area, it was crowded!! No seats, people were having their drinks out there…I asked a couple if there was outside service, they laughed & said “no, you gotta go back into the smelly bar”, to which a few others commented on how unbearable the inside is. Not sure if the service & drinks were good, we left. We are on a vacation, with 2 more destinations, no laundry for another 8 days, can’t have our clothes smelling. It’s to bad that the manager allows the bartenders to stink out the bar with incense burning. It also impacted our dinner reservation at Market Steer. We cancelled it & dinned at Coyote Cafe (Beautiful restaurant, sat at the chefs bar, friendly bartenders, & just the smell of really good food!!).
We have tried other fancy cocktail bars in town to varying degrees of success and/or mediocrity - this one is the best. The drinks are creative and delicious, the bartenders know what they're doing. Every cocktail I've had here has been excellent.
Our first night. Where to eat? We looked up establishments with good craft cocktails to help us end our day of traveling. Secret was the ticket. Wonderful low key, dim lighted, warm bar and lounge. Everyone was professional, helpful and knowledgable about their bar and food craft. Nick was especially nice and aided us in our choices. Craft cocktails were the best (Mother Pucker and Purple Haze). The bone in ribeye, complete with a sauce flight was stupendous. Splitting two desserts with new found aquantainces at the bar allowed us the room to try different flavors - the bourbon bread pudding and the butterscotch creme brulee. Great start to our adventures in the southwest.
Located in the Hotel St. Francis, to the right as you walk in. Don't worry the bar is not on fire they do a lot of smoked drinks. Nice warm environment with booths and tables. Most seating inside with a few outside. Table service, you do not have to order at the bar. Worth a visit if in the area.
Nice little place for a cocktail before dinner, we were able to sit outside the bar inside the hotel and it was great.
Located at Saint Francis hotel in downtown Santa Fe, it had a church vibe. Decor has low lighting and a mysterious ambiance, the lights kept flickering and it gave it a spooky feel. We got a non-alcoholic tropical shirley temple for my son and it was sour at the beginning but was sweet at the end and it had a dried orange in it. I ordered a cocktail made from hibiscus and a local bear for my husband. It was a pleasant evening!
Really enjoyed this bar and that you could order quality food from the bar area. The only disappointment was that last call was at 9:30 on a Friday night in a hotel bar. The food and drinks were great, just wished they would stay open a little later.
I returned here after visiting 4 years ago and found the same wonderful experience. Bar has about 10 seats, great bar tenders, no TV, and a feature with herbal wood smoke. I visited several evenings and enjoyed fun conversation with others at the bar. Drinks can be interesting, though I had only Corona beer. I had dinner of "roasted chicken" one evening that was disappointing. The chicken was smoked (not roasted) and not completely cooked, so it was tough.
Lovely place to catch a night cap with friends. The Smokey Margaritas were excellent and a great aperitif to dinner at a busy Mexican restaurant nearby.
