Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Food was marginal. Calamari was way over cooked, salad not chilled and lacked flavor, pizza was good. Wine prices are high.
We were very disappointed with our dinner at Osteria D'Assisi. Service was very slow making us almost late for the opera. Both dishes of pasta we had bordered on being tasteless. The prices are too high. We have been eating at this restaurant for 20 years. We will not go back.
This was our second time at the restaurant; the first some 18 months ago. We came back because the food was really good. This time, however, it wasn't. There had to be some kind of problem in the kitchen, but no explanation was given as to why our food took so long to come out and why it was luke warm when it did. There was also a problem with the bread. No one around us got any bread, and although it seems petty, we were told it was "in the oven," but when it finally arrived at the table, it was cold and almost as if someone had driven to the grocery store and sliced a ready-made baguette. We did not have time to send back our food or complain because we were trying to make an 8 pm performance. Needless to say, we wont be going back. A total miss all around.
