My best friend and I take two trips a year together. We live in different states so we try to find places to meet in the middle. We were thrilled to visit Santa Fe and stay at a hotel within the Marriott Bonvoy family. The hotel is severely understaffed. But this is not stopping them from hosting large events. The weekend we were there a wedding was taking place which ate up their attention - paraphrased line from the front desk. 1. The hotel advertises that it offers Room Service. But it does not. This matters because we only book hotels that offer that service. We would have stayed somewhere else if they no longer were offering it. 2. The pool area was disgusting. Wet used towels were strewn all about the area. It had rained the night before and nothing was straightened up and there were no fresh towels for the area. People kept asking the Spa for towels and they were running out themselves. The bartender opened late, said he wasn't prepared that day because he thought it would be closed. So the bar was half stocked and he was overwhelmed. 3. The hotel has "Spa" in its name but you cannot count on their Spa being open! We booked this trip because we wanted to stay on-site and enjoy the facilities. We booked treatments and were looking forward to them. We were told less than 24 hours prior to our appointments that the Spa was closed due to staffing shortages. That was it. No offer to rebook us elsewhere. No offer for credit for future use. Not even a "Have a few drinks on us at the bar for your inconvenience." Nothing. Just, "Sorry." By this point, we were wildly disappointed with our experience. We were met with shoulder shrugs and "Sorrys" but not solutions or compensation. Overall, the valet team was awesome but that is where my compliments end for that hotel. The front desk and spa staff could not have cared less that they were unable to assist us. I only had one meal at the hotel and it was the last day of the trip. My order was messed up and I was asked if "it was okay anyway" or if I wanted to get what I actually ordered. What?!? It was par for the course for the whole experience but man I was hoping they could get one thing right. When I checked out I let the attendant know how disappointed I was with my stay and she removed the "resort fee" from the bill. $160 out of a $1200 bill. A drop in the bucket from the whole price. Times are tough right now in the service industry. And I understand weddings bring in alot of money for resorts. But a hotel should not book guests not involved with the events if they will not be able to provide them with the customer service expected from a hotel that is $400 + a night. In conclusion, I recommend staying ANYWHERE else in Santa Fe. Cause the pool was gross, the service was absolute garbage (outside of Valet), and the Spa was closed/canceled on us last minute.
We got married at La Posada in May 2022. The hotel is stunning and is in a perfect spot in downtown Santa Fe. La Posada has the picture-perfect Santa Fe ambiance that we were searching for, and the food was incredible. We had so many wedding guests comment on how great the food was and how beautiful the reception was.
Amazing had great time. Welcomed safe and secure Fun and leisure. I absolutely loved everything about it was the first time I have to keep the first time I have entertained .keep it up Will surley be back
The very best part of staying at La Posada was the staff they were wonderful all of them. The location was walking distance to town which was a plus and if you need a ride within a 2 mile radius a car was available. We used it when we went to Geronimo, it was very convenient Herbert, our driver has been with the hotel 20+ years! and was very accommodating. the property itself is very nice but really as a whole it needs a nip and tuck. The grounds have plantings but most of it was rocky landscape. For the most part it was very well maintained. It was a shame that as Gold Status Bonvoy members an upgrade was not available ( nothing is guaranteed) because our room could have used some attention. It was an upstairs room and the view overlooked the roof of the adjacent rooms, not a great view. The room had a wood burning fireplace (too warm to use) wonderful wood beam ceilings and the bones of the room where fine, but there was a Hodge podge of furniture that just didn't match or give the feeling of being an intended collection. The room was also dark and the available lighting was not sufficient. The room did have a coffee maker which is always appreciated and towels and bedding were nice, along with robes. There was a nice size flat screen T.V. As mentioned this was an upstairs room so if you have difficulty with stairs you should note that when making a reservation. As we descended the stairs from our room there was a room with the window directly in the walkway which would have been a problem if it had been ours. There are clearly differences in the positioning of the rooms. There is a pool with a bar, I can't comment on it or the spa because we were too busy seeing the sites to experience them. As with most properties there is a resort fee which I wish all properties would discontinue and just include it in the price of the room so there are no surprise. Would I return to La Posada sure but I would be more specific with regard to the room location. Also shout out to Monique who helped us with luggage, getting car service and was just always helpful. The hotel is pet friendly.
The good: the location of the hotel is in close proximity to downtown historic Santa Fe, and there is a certain charm to the layout and design of the hotel (if a bit dated and worn). The hotel appeared very dog friendly, which could be an advantage or disadvantage depending upon your outlook. My room was relatively quiet (but it was also February) and in working order. The unforgiveable: I was charged for an extra night's stay, as well as the food and beverages for other guests. Generally, this wouldn't be an issue worthy of complaint: mistakes happen and most managers would immediately reconcile the billing. Here, however, I was reimbursed for the extra night and the other guests' charges from that night, but a rather hefty bar bill was left on my account from the prior night. La Posada's former General Manager confirmed that the charge was not associated with my use, but -SIX MONTHS LATER - I have still not received a refund. More irritatingly, I have emailed the purported manager a half a dozen times, left several voicemails with the same manager, and requested assistance from Bonvoy Customer Service, and the hotel still refuses to reimburse me. In fact, they have declined to even respond to my emails or return my phone calls. All in all, it seemed like there were several other convenient hotels in the area. This hotel is not up to the general standards of the Marriott Premium brand, and I wouldn't stay here unless you don't mind the idea of filing a small claims action.
We wanted a suite and did get a living room. Saying that what we also got was tv’s hung on walls that are positioned to view so that you have to crane your neck to see them, missing remotes, dark rooms, our window broken and taped together, dirty carpet, unfriendly valet, should I go on ? It was overpriced and very average. We will not stay here again..oh and it was expensive to boot.
This property has beautiful and well maintained grounds. It has a friendly staff and a great location just off the Plaza. It should be a luxury resort and, in parts, it is. But, I agree with other reviewers, that many of the rooms need an upgrade and to be refreshed. My one-bedroom suit had a non-working fridge, a broken window that would open and not shut, a stained and dirty carpet that needs to be replaced and broken and chipped old furniture. It could also use a paint job. At the pool, the cushions were stained and looked old and the rattan side tables had holes. It's as though Marriott needs to come in and refresh the rooms. That said, it is a beautiful setting, a calm oasis and impressive grounds. It has a friendly and lively bar and a nice restaurant and interesting history. I would like to see the owners invest some money to improve the quality of the rooms. Make them as good as the public areas.
This was my fourth time to stay here because of the warm hospitality, perfect location and great restaurant. It's a 10 minute walk to Canyon Road with all the shops and restaurants and a 10 minute walk to the Plaza and museums. It's in a lovely quiet neighborhood, the rooms are very comfortable and the personnel are incredibly helpful. They're is valet parking on site and there's a wonderful spa. It's hard to leave here once you've checked in!!
we just finished 3 nights. it's a great location but we were very disappointed in the property. the price/value was not there. we spent 1200 for 3 nights. i had high expectations. they were not met. the property is just dirty. come on, clean it up. i would challenge the hotel GM to walk his property and observe the overall dirtiness of the whole property. the rooms was underwhelming. pillows suck. the property needs a huge update. everything seems like it is falling apart. the pool area was horrible. the plaster is coming off the pool and hotub. concrete cracking. overall dirty water in the pool and on the tiles. employees kept walking through the pool area - guess it was a short cut..... overall the staff was nice and helpful. we had breakfast each day - it was fine. i am a bonvoy plat for life. i have stayed in many of their hotels. this one is not up to where it should be. i would not recommend this hotel.
We love the resort, the food at Julia's was terrific and the staff very welcoming and made our trip fun. The room we had which was upgraded because of the Titanium Elite status for life of my wife and the added complimentary breakfast were a welcome perk. The room with a fireplace was nice, but needs updated and there were holes in the old carpet for the status of a Tribute resort should be addressed?. Our server Carol at Julia's was terrific, she was so bubbly and made us feel welcome, your lucky to have her! We will be back as the ease of walking to the plaza and quiet, fun hotel is someplace we look forward to returning very soon!!
