Okay this was our first time to this location!:-) if you like chocolate anything it is here! And chocolate in many many flavors! We enjoyed our cup of hot chocolate coconut macaroon and pistachio nuggets! :-) did you get a chance to visit this place while you're in Santa Fe please do! :-)
So yummy! Got some truffles and some ice cream and it was delicious! Very friendly staff as well. Worth every penny. Please open one in Ohio :)
My order:-Rose Almond Elixir (hot chocolate)-Mezcal truffle-Aztec chocolate ice creamExcellent chocolate! The samples they gave us when we walked in were very tasty. I really felt like you were getting an authentic experience. Great service! The mezcal was not too overwhelming. And the ice cream really fills you up. I couldn’t even finish it.
Kakawa is a nice little chocolate shop a little bit past the Canyon Road area of Santa Fe. We were between meals so stopped in for a few sweet treats. The dark chocolate was good and the ones infused with chili were tasty and not too hot. We also shared a few truffles and we all agreed it was nice to get a variety of chocolates which allowed us to try a few different things. The shop is not too large, but with a few tables spaced out nicely we were able to sit, relax and enjoy our chocolates. We also liked looking at the pictures of famous folks who have visited. Kakawa also offers homemade ice cream, we may have to try the ice cream next visit. While there we chatted with the owner, and who knew, they also have a spot in Salem, MA! Maybe we will check it out next time we are up in New England!
Very interesting hot chocolates. The ones with chili in them are rather spicy so be careful. We got the kakawa American, the tzul, Jeffersonian and the rose almond. The kakawa was the most like traditional of them. The Jeffersonian was very good but had a bit smoky flavor with it. The tzul had an aniseish flavor to it. The rose almond was like normal hot chocolate but with a big after kick.We also got some truffles, the French chocolate, the prickly pear, the dark chocolate raspberry, the key lime, the horchata, the goat cheese and sage and the Italian carmel. Quick notes the prickly pear tasted very earthy (said to say it tasted like dirt), the key lime was a chocolate lime combination that just did not make any sense, the goat cheese and sage had a slightly minty flavor, the chocolate raspberry was exactly what it says it is. The three that stood out were the french chocolate which was like a French silk pie, the horchata which had a slightly cinnamon flavor to it and the Italian with was fig based.
I may have spent $75 on chocolate but do I regret it? No. We got a box of all of the truffles so we could try them all. I’d say don’t do that, just try the ones you think you’d like. But definitely don’t skip the sipping hot chocolate. I’d get the small if I were you because I couldn’t finish my large size. The line moves very quick!
Unique hot chocolate flavors! Truffles and ice cream too. The staff are very friendly!
Such an inventive choice for a restaurant! We enjoyed our elixir flights so much we bought bags to enjoy at home.! Beautiful presentation of chocolates and just plain fun place to stop. Staff were so nice as well. A real treat
Second time visiting. First time we went was great, loved the service and great product. Went back with my friend and her service dog, who was fully trained and wore required vest etc, and when we got a place to site down to enjoy our drinks before ordering chocolates to go a middle aged guy comes up and gets in my friends face very aggressively and tells her she has to leave because she has a dog. We explained it was a service animal and he flat out says he doesn’t care and tells us to leave now. Before any of this when I was ordering I saw him also arguing with the other employees just because I asked for almond milk, which they had no issue with but he for some reason did. He was rude, aggressive and unprofessional. I don’t know if he was the owner or manager but either way it was uncalled for. Will not be returning
Kakawa Chocolate House is a MUST for chocolate lovers and or ice cream lovers. The staff is friendly and explains different elixirs and will give a sample. My husband and I truly enjoyed the chocolate elixir flight! The Chili, Kakawa American, Golden and Jeffersonian were our favs. A first time experience for both of us. Highly recommend! We walked out with other chocolates, elixir mix and bowl of house made ice cream. What a treat! Very busy place with limited seating inside and outside. Limited parking spots as well. They do have a restroom for customers - which is a nice option since many stores in Santa Fe do not offer their restrooms.
