Must try! The authenticity of this mom and pop place, using family recipes, prepared and served with much care, puts this restaurant at the TOP of the list of Not to be Missed! Worth it. Worthy. I will dream about the meal we had…Indoor and outdoor seating. Great beer/wine list.
In a week of enjoying amazing meals in Santa Fe, Casa Chimayo topped them all! Our group of four (for lunch) loved their authentic New Mexican dishes prepared from scratch with locally sourced fresh ingredients. The Elote appetizer and blue corn Huarache are not to be missed. The pork was so tender it almost melted on the way to my mouth. The Bison Agua Chile Special was Amazing. The restaurant is located in a historic home decorated with beautiful art. The welcoming owner was our attentive waiter, who provided recommendations of their dishes prepared from old family recipes. We will definitely return soon and will bring our friends.
Today was my second visit to this restaurant. I had budgeted 1.5 hours for lunch before and important appointment, but highway traffic and trouble finding parking (the only negative about this place) had cut my time down to 45 minutes. But I got seated quickly, and when I told the server/owner about my time limit, he made sure my food arrived right away, and he kept an eye on me so he could bring my bill as soon as I was done. Just like my first visit, the food was amazing. The elote (mexican style corn on the cob), a house specialty, was both delicious and beautiful. It's an appetizer but quite substantial. Last time I had the stuffed sopapilla, which was excellent but a lot of food. So this time with the elote I had a single tamale with blue corn masa, pork, and a rich red chile sauce, with pico de gallo and mexican crema/sour cream. The food is home-made/home-style, but at the same time beautiful and sophisticated. Charming old building as well.
Six of us had a great time with n their outdoor patio, festive, shaded from sun. Our drinks, appetizers and meals were all delicious. I think their salsa is the best I have had in Santa Fe. Great Guy’s Enchiladas!! Our waitress, Stephanie, and the owner worked hard to keep us served and happy. Such excellent service!! We will be back again and again.
We had dinner at the Casa Chimayo and it was a more than delightful experience. We had some difficulty parking close, but called and spoke with Joaquín who directed us to parking a distance away. Upon my return a fairly magical journey began. My braised buffalo short ribs had a depth of flavor that was amazing, the elote was on a par with any I have in Mexico or Central America and my wife's blue corn huarache was authentic and tasty. The Margaritas were excellent and Joaquin was the consummate server! If you cannot walk a few blocks, take an Uber. It will be well worth to!
I highly recommend Casa Chimayo! The food was outstanding, the service was friendly and informative, and the patio is eclectic and relaxing. We will be back.
Went there and sat down. Tablecloth was stained and table across from me had leftover food that had been sitting for quite some time. When place is half full, staff make it clear they don't have time to serve people. And said to wait to get served for a whole hour. Female staff mistreats her customers and male just ignores them. Food was OK on one occasion because they weren't serving anyone else other than my friend and myself. They raised the prices and don't think the food is worth the hassle of waiting or being neglected/abused by the owners/staff.
Ambiance was very nice, our waitress was phenomenal, the food was amazing. The table-side quac might be the best I've ever had, and everyone's entree was delicious. Very fresh and flavorful. My one regret is that I couldn't bring my leftovers home because we're traveling and don't have space for them. So glad we came here.
Best place we ate at in Santa Fe. Food was fantastic! Service is excellent. We had the Blue Corn huarache and is was out of this world. Don’t miss the Elote corn appetizer either.
Fabulous!! One of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at. Service was great and so friendly, food was incredible. Stayed for a long weekend in SF and ate here 2 of 3 nights. Don't usually repeat but it was so good that we had to go again. Owners treated us like we were family. Awesome!!
