Although I'm not really a coffee drinker, I've always liked this place. It serves good coffee, tea & pastries in a kind of casual down home, friendly neighborhood atmosphere. When I was here last week, the staff was welcoming which is almost always the case here. I had an iced latte which was delicious. The gluten free lemon scone? Not so much. That's not the fault of the establishment though. I just find almost all pastry that's made with rice (or even almond) flour to be dry & tasteless. You'd think by now I would have learnt to avoid all gluten free pastry, but sometimes those old cravings catch up. Their wheat made pastries all looked fabulous!
I love the Bean. Very good coffee and pastries. The only thing I will caution is that they have now opened a second location, so the one on Avenida de Mesilla now no longer serves things like their amazing breakfast bowl. It's fine, as the other location is not far away, but just something to keep in mind.
Great coffee shop with delicious baked goods. I had the green chili cheddar scone. Plenty of tables inside and the staff were friendly and attentive.
I was working on a set that required me to get a huge order for a lot of people. When I went inside, it was still a little busy so I was worried that it was going to be a while before they would be able to even get to me, let alone take my order. But much to my surprise, they were able to get to me almost instantly. And they were so helpful with my order, and amazingly fast in getting it out to me. I had about 3 drink carriers to take to my car but they were kind enough to help me carry them over! The entire staff was so amazing and helpful and very inviting. Not just to myself, but to all the other customers that was in the shop with me as well.
On a cross country road trip all the way from NY, we stopped here for some coffee. It was DELISH I also had the yogurt bowl with house made granola sooo good!!! The staff behind the counter was also very sweet and friendly. Thank you!
Great food and java. Nice staff. Highly recommend.
Great coffee, too busy for one barista. Edit - Been here 4 days in a row, ordered a latte and got a free refill of coffee. Today the barista decided I wasn't going to get a free refill, "because that is not the way we do things here". She argued with me, no de-escalation skills at ALL. I want my tip returned (20% of a latte and an $11 breakfast order separately) and I will not be back which she snottily said, " I'm so sorry to hear that." In a time of really bad customer service, this is the worst I've had in my 6600 mile trip.

Delicious coffee. Friendly atmosphere. Has a breakfast bowl of veggies beans and a fried egg. Friend had a tofu bowl. Yum!
We checked Google for directions. The Cafe was open for another hour and a half. We drove 5 miles thru heavy traffic. Parking was tight and haphazard. Inside, posted blackboard menu did not match internet menu, no salads etc..When I went to order, we were told kitchen closes at 3pm. Did we want a pastry? No thanks. I purchased a $3.16 cup of coffee, not fresh, sitting in warmer pot. Again we were asked about pastry. We left.Social distancing impossible with table placement.
