My husband and I were driving through from Arizona and found that many of the mom and pop restaurants in Gallup closed at 8 or earlier. Anthony’s stayed open until 9 which put it at the top of our list since the time change happens about 30 min before you get to Gallup. We were excited after seeing the menu and other reviews to try this place. I honestly think it isn’t rated higher on TripAdvisor simple because there aren’t enough reviews compared to some of the other restaurants. The food was excellent—my husband got Jimmy’s Chimi. I got the Stuffed Sopapilla, and we had a side order of sopapillas with honey. Everything came out quickly, the waitstaff was friendly, and the prices were unbeatable. We will definitely be back during our next trip.
We were looking for fry bread on our trip and found this wonderful restaurant. Best chile relleno I've found in 10 years! A lot of food at a reasonable price. Three of us ate for under $50.00 and that included 4 pieces of fry bread! The staff were excellent! Helped each other serve our table. A couple waitresses took extra time to visit with us and make us feel like we were regulars instead of first time customers. Great experience!
Manager Michelle refused to cater for our event for some unknown reason. Michelle & I had initially made arrangements over the phone, all we had to do was sit down and finalize (pay) it. When my family & I dined there, I asked our waitress to let the manager know we were there to meet with her regarding our recent arrangements for catering. At the time, we didn’t know who the manager was. (All we knew was her name is Michelle) She didn’t come to our table. So we asked again…and again. Total of 3 times. A couple waitresses tried to get her to come to meet us but nothing. We asked to talk to the owner, but they said he was busy. We paid for our meal and as we were exiting the restaurant, the manager was just staring at her shoe. She wouldn’t look at us. Another waitress told us her name is Michelle and she doesn’t know why she won’t talk to us. So at that point, we left. I called a couple days later to ask again about catering. Michelle wouldn’t talk to me. The girl who answered the call said she would get her but came back and said she was gone for the day. This was in the AM. I then asked to speak to the owner. Same boat. He said he would call me back regarding the catering, to this day I haven’t gotten a call back. He made all kinds of pathetic excuses for his managers’ behavior. It’s unfortunate that a place we favored turned out to be very unprofessional. To this day, I still don’t understand why the manager lost hundreds of dollars for the business. Ridiculous.
Apparently if you place an order to go and still pay the full menu price, you get NO chips! I kind of hate this. Who doesn’t enjoy a chip or two with salsa…? Same charge; Sorry, no bueno…Sad, Anthony. Stingy…It’s just a chip or two. ?
The food was delicious and the ice tea hit the spot. I ordered the Steak torta with fries added some green chili was a nice combo my guest ordered the #3 combination plate (Enchilada, Tamale, Relleno). The restaurant it’s self was very interesting walls were covered in paintings and pictures, the dinning areas were nice and cozy this was my first time here and we had a great experience although I think our waitress disappeared after she brought our food and drinks out she never returned other then that I give this place four stars. It’s good food for the great low cost ???
Excellent Customer Service. Very Professional and Proficient Service. Clean Establishment and Bathrooms. Awesome Food Quality. Congested Parking Space. I Ordered ToGo Today. I Definitely will Be Coming Back.Navajo Burger and Stuffed Sopas Are Bomb... Taking Tomales Home for The Kids...
I ordered a chicken grilled salad and it was a cabbage salad. I couldn't even finish it, the lettuce needs to be chopped up into bite size.
We were traveling through on our way out west and stopped to eat dinner here. So the food was decent. I had the burrito with shredded beef, and the beef was pretty dry. My hubby had the carne adovada and a chili relleno and those were good and flavorful. The biggest issue was the fact that when we got our ticket they automatically charged a gratuity on there and didn’t even tell us. We didn’t even have a group or party, but a family of 6 plus my father-in-law. Typically you see this gratuity added to a party of 10 or more and no one bothered to even tell us this was their policy. My father-in-law paid with his card and left $20 on the table for a tip, unbeknownst to him that a tip was already added.I understand he should have checked the receipt better, but this is not common practice for most restaurants anywhere. The fact that the staff did not communicate this to their patrons is really shady, especially when an elder man offered to pay the whole tab for his family. I KNOW they know this is not common practice to add gratuity to a party of 7.We won’t be back to this establishment when passing through again- we are all about supporting local businesses when we travel but not those that try to pull fast ones on people.
a really good taste of southwest cuisine. my issue is the wait to be seated, it seems unorganized. I got the combination plate with a tamale, Taco, and a beef enchilada (beef enchilada is a dollar more). the food was so delicious. the water tastes weird but maybe that's just me. I recommend the Taco plate instead as the Tacos were the highlight of my meal. the rice also tastes like it's made with Prego tomato sauce, which I don't think is a big deal but it's not my cup of tea. the service was a tad slow but I went there when it was super busy so I don't blame them. made us feel welcomed and were sat within 15 minutes. overall I give this place 4 out of 5 stars. will be returning for more food in the future ?
Bland burritos. One was filled with dry chicken and the other just bland refried beans. The red and green chili sauce had little flavor or heat. Had to find our waitress to even obtain our check.
