We came across this cafe while in Carlsbad, NM. I had the tacos. My husband had the patty melt. My son had the french toast and bacon. Although the food wasn't that great (pretty bland), the atmosphere was friendly and the service was great. I would definitely recommend their chips and fresh made salsa though. The salsa was very good.
The food was okay, nothing spectacular. Service was great too. Everything was fresh. The reason I gave low rating is because our waitress didn't inform us about extra charge ($3) for a side of green chili sauce. Same with my friend.
Pros:(1) Quick food(2) Fairly priced(3) Menu has some varietyCons:(1) Burger patty is pretty flavorless(2) Fries are flavorless and squishy (they aren’t cooked with salt)(3) The green chiles aren’t flavorful -just sorta squishy and warm(4) That cinnamon roll is drowning in butter - so much that much of it wasn’t melted but just soft
We had a fantastic breakfast experience at Pecos River Cafe. Good food and coffee and really attentive terrific service. Our 21 year old said the pancakes were the best he’s ever had.
Feel a little duped. Very nice and quick service. Was looking at menu and she said I could get something off menu. I asked if they had croissants and they did so got a sausage egg and cheese croissant. I was expecting like 9.99 (at max!) but it ended up being 14.99. Would have appreciated a heads up as it was not all that. The cheese was shredded and just lumped in spots instead of spread…..
Quaint little cafe in the heart of Carlsbad. I ordered the basics. 2 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 pancakes, hashbrowns, coffee and ice water. Great service and short wait time. The food was good but my only complaint there was the sausage links. I prefer Jimmy Dean-style sausage links and theirs were the spongy kind you would expect at a hotel continental breakfast. The price was a bit steep IMO but I guess we know who to thank for that. All in all a good experience.
What a great diner in the heart of Carlsbad. Very busy but worth it for sure. ALL the staff were friendly and pleasant...on point service. Take out also available. Freshly prepared too.
Pecos Cafe was a pleasant experience,The wait staff greeted ME kindly when I walked in the door...They were very attentive, quick service, & they work hard to make sure all is well...I had the cream of wheat..which was excellent... excellent coffee...It was busy, none the less it was not overwhelming with sounds or smells ..I really enjoyed the relaxing environment while I ate My breakfast, & even though they were quick to give a check, & cash ME out...I did not feel rushed...
My friends and I stopped into this fine establishment on our way back to Texas. It had good reviews and the pictures of the food looked fantastic. So we walked in expecting some good food at the very least. We didn't expect the stellar service and the amazing speed to come with the delicious food. The pancakes smelled wonderful, the eggs perfectly cooked and the ham on my plate was incredible. As we ate we noticed that the entire staff was helping us, we never saw the same server twice, everyone was attentive and kind. It almost reminded me of watching a pit crew in Nascar. I would highly recommend the Pecos River Cafe. The service was some of the best I have had in a long time and the breakfast did not disappoint.
Very unassuming looking, but the food was wow! Friendly staff, quick service, and outstanding food. The huevos rancheros with green chili, yummy!!!
