We visited Picadillas on our way from Kansas to Arizona. We were not disappointed. The soapopis were excellent. A great place and was packed with locals. They have been in business 42 years so doing something right.

Definitely a hole in the wall, but good food. The service is fast, but it is no muss, no fuss. It was crowded and loud when we went, but it didn’t affect the service or taste of the food. Definitely worth a place to eat.

We hit Padilla's at the tail-end of the lunch hour and were seated right away. I knew when I walked in that it was going to be good ... it just has that no-pretense vibe going of a hole in the wall family restaurant. We got the chile relleno and blue corn cheese enchilada plates, with a cup of posole and a cup of green chile stew on the side. Everything was really good. My wife enjoyed her chile relleno a lot, and the enchiladas hit the spot. The posole was good. The green chile stew could have been served a bit hotter. All in all it is a good place to experience an Albuquerque family owned NM cuisine spot.

Have visited this restaurant before when in town and it never disappoints. Food is really good, the portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. This time we visited between rushes, so we didn't have to wait; usually you wait in line for a table to open up. There are two dining rooms beside each other and the tables/chairs are not anything fancy. You don't go here for ambiance, you go for the food. Service is akin to quick coffee-shop service. They place your check on the table and you pay at the register. HEADS UP - THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS!

Very low key, unassuming place. Very much an old, family owned, home town diner kind of place. Food & service fantastic.

We searched on TripAdvisor for a Mexican restaurant because the restaurants in Old Town were all closed. This was about 5 miles away, but so worth the drive! I had the Relleno plate and my husband had the Carne Adovado. Both were delicious and the service was excellent.

Absolutely superb! What a wonderful return visit to Albuquerque. Read the previous reviews, made the selection and saw the parking lot being full and decided that this was the choice. Three of us chose different entries for lunch. I chose #1 and it was an outstanding choice. Perfect....

Passing thru town, driving from Oklahoma City today, we'd found Padilla's on TripAdvisor and were eager for a local meal. The reviews were glowing and we love a family-run Mexican restaurant. The location is in a little strip of stores, next to a laundromat. The parking lot and all the tables were full of locals, a good sign. The host was warm and welcoming as was our server. The laminated menu had all the basics. We decided on a taco platter (2 tacos with lettuce and cheese, pinto beans, rice & 2 sopapillas--no sugar or cinnamon, so just fried pieces of dough, honey is available on the table)--beef is $8 and boiled plain chicken is $9. The chips brought to the table were whole-grain and were neither warm nor fresh. Sad face. Even a little salt didn't help. I rarely turn down chips on the table, but only ate one or maybe two, hoping they'd get better...but they didn't. The tacos were okay; the pintos didn't have much flavor. After a 20+ minute wait for simple tacos, we were tired and hungry, but I only ate one taco and one sopapilla. My kid ate both his beef tacos but only part of his sopapilla. It was an okay meal but not worth $18+ or a 10 minute drive. The previous night we ate at Cracker Barrel, every bite was delicious, the service was fast, and the check was $12. We thought the staff were very kind, but we weren't able to love the food or the speed of service.

Amazing food at a great price. Friendly staff and outstanding service. Vacation from Texas. Best food on the trip. Will remember this place!

I had the carne adovada burrito because I wanted to try carne adovada. It was tender, which is a bit deal for me. I'm just not a big fan of the adovada flavoring. Still, the meal was good even as leftovers. Make sure you take cash.
